The dead eyes and cold heart of Jared Kushner The poster boy for presidential nepotism

https://www.post-gazette.com/opinion/tony-norman/2020/10/30/Jared-Kushner-Trump-nepotism-rappers-COVID-19-dead-eyes/stories/202010300048

Tony Norman: The dead eyes and cold heart of Jared Kushner
The poster boy for presidential nepotism shows his true colors.

The dead eyes of Jared Kushner always give up the game. His voice, a nasally trill from the depths of inherited privilege, cracks slightly under the weight of racist cliche-mongering. His usual verbal nervous tick — a recurring “right?” — is missing from the word salad of projected Black victimization that flows like sewage from his razor-thin lips:

“One thing we’ve seen in a lot of the Black community, which is mostly Democrat, is that President Trump’s policies are the policies that can help people break out of the problems that they’re complaining about,” the dead-eyed son-in-law of the would-be Sun King said. “But he [Donald Trump] can’t want them to be successful more than they want to be successful.”

Yes, you heard that right, folks. Little Lord Fauntleroy in the skinny suit actually said on the biggest morning cable news show in America that his father-in-law is more eager for Black success than the majority of Blacks who vote Democratic.

His audience, the dim-witted Kewpie Dolls of “FOX & Friends,” received Mr. Kushner’s sociological insight without blinking. After all, what Mr. Kushner said so blithely was in tune with right-wing orthodoxy. There’s nothing controversial in their vanilla-dipped world about insinuating that Black people generally lack the je ne sais quoi that comes naturally to those born on third base.

---------

But as bad as Mr. Kushner is on the racial politics of this era, it is his performance as Mr. Trump’s “brain” during a pandemic that is disproportionately killing Black people that will forever etch his name in the annals of infamy and Washington incompetence.

Florida Man mauled by leopard after paying $150 "play with it, rub its belly and take pictures,"

Man mauled by leopard at Florida backyard zoo after paying $150 for a ‘full-contact experience’

A captive black leopard mauled a man who paid for the interaction in Broward County, according to a report by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

The report did not give details about where the attack took place. WPLG-Ch. 10 reported it was in a backyard zoo behind a Davie home.

The man paid $150 for a “full-contact experience” with the black leopard — to “play with it, rub its belly and take pictures,” Ch. 10 reported.

The moment the man walked inside the leopard’s enclosure, the huge cat attacked him. The predator’s bite caused severe injuries.

The man who operates the backyard zoo is licensed to have the leopard, the report says. He was cited on a misdemeanor charge for allowing full contact with the predatory cat and for maintaining captive wildlife in an unsafe condition that injured someone, the report says.

The attack caught the attention of the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida. The unsafe environment endangered both humans and animals, campaigns coordinator Nick Atwood said.

As Election Day nears, Trump ponders the prospect of defeat

Trailing in the polls and with little time left to change the trajectory or closing themes of the presidential race, President Donald Trump has spent the final days of the campaign complaining that the coronavirus crisis is getting too much coverage - and openly musing about losing.

Trump has publicly lamented about what a loss would mean, spoken longingly of riding off into the sunset and made unsubstantiated claims that voter fraud could cost him the election. He has sarcastically threatened to fire state officials if he doesn't win and excoriated his rival Joe Biden as someone it would be particularly embarrassing to lose to.

"If I lose, I will have lost to the worst candidate, the worst candidate in the history of presidential politics," Trump said at an Oct. 17 campaign rally in Janesville, Wis. "If I lose, what do I do? I'd rather run against somebody who's extraordinarily talented, at least, this way I can go and lead my life."

The president, who said at the same rally that "we're not going to lose, we're going to win," has certainly not abandoned his showman's approach to the campaign trail. But his unscripted remarks bemoaning a potential loss - and preemptively explaining why he might suffer one - offer a window into his mind-set as he barnstorms the country in an attempt to keep himself from becoming the one thing he so derisively despises: a loser.

Trump has told rallygoers he had the presidential race won until the pandemic hit, and he has accused media outlets of focusing on the ongoing health crisis to hurt him politically.

why we say BLM

happened in 2017 but trial just beginning this week

A disturbing video showing a Calgary police officer slamming a handcuffed woman into the ground face-first has been released by a judge at the constable's trial.

Const. Alex Dunn is on trial on a charge of assault causing bodily harm stemming from an arrest in 2017.

Dalia Kafi, who is Black and was 26 years old at the time, had been arrested on the accusation she breached a court-ordered curfew. She was at the CPS arrest processing unit when she was taken to the ground in what one 30-year officer says was the "worst use of force" he'd ever seen.

Kafi, whose head can be seen bouncing off the concrete floor, needed surgery for a broken nose and stitches in her lip.

On Monday, provincial court Judge Michelle Christopher agreed to release the video exhibit to members of the media, including CBC News.
