**I heard this report was going to be dropped soon. word was that the world was going to be shocked by the extent of abuse**

Some 216,000 children have been victims of abuse by members of the Catholic clergy in France since 1950, the head of a panel investigating abuses by church members says.

Jean-Marc Sauvé made the comments as a lengthy report was released into sexual abuse in the French Catholic Church.

The report was based on Church, court and police archives as well as interviews with victims.

It was commissioned by the French Catholic Church in 2018, following a number of scandals in other countries.

GOP Congressman, Todd Akin, Who Made 'Legitimate Rape' Remark Dies

(NEWSER) – Former US Rep. Todd Akin, a conservative Missouri Republican whose comment that women's bodies have a way of avoiding pregnancies in cases of "legitimate rape" sunk his bid for the US Senate, and who became a cautionary tale for other GOP candidates, died late Sunday. He was 74. Akin had cancer for several years, his son Perry said in a statement. He died at his home in Wildwood, a St. Louis suburb. "As my father's death approached, we had people from all different walks of life share story after story of the personal impact he had on them," Perry Akin said in a statement to the AP. "He was a devout Christian, a great father, and a friend to many.”

Akin represented a GOP-leaning eastern Missouri district that included St. Louis-area suburbs for 12 years, giving up a safe seat to run for the US Senate in 2012 against the incumbent Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill—only to seriously hurt Republicans' chances of recapturing a Senate majority less than two weeks later. Akin, a strong abortion opponent, was asked during an interview by a St. Louis television station whether he supported allowing abortions for women who've been raped. He answered that "from what I understand from doctors" such pregnancies are "really rare."

He added: "If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down." His comments sparked an outcry.

Andrew Yang Forms 'Inclusive' 3rd Party THE FORWARD PARTY

Andrew Yang Forms 'Inclusive' 3rd Party
Key principles include universal basic income and 'grace and tolerance'

Andrew Yang wants to overhaul politics, from the two-party system to political campaigns, as he writes in a new book out Tuesday. In the final chapter of Forward: Notes on the Future of Our Democracy, the former Democratic presidential and New York City mayoral candidate reveals the name of a third party he's founded, reports Business Insider. The Forward Party involves six key principles of "ranked-choice voting and open primaries"; "fact-based governance"; "human-centered capitalism"; "effective and modern-day government"; "universal basic income" and "grace and tolerance." And "it's inclusive," Yang tells the New York Times.

Without it, "the dysfunction is going to kill us," Yang writes in his book, per Insider. "The two sides will be trapped in a war that both sides win—they will still be hovering in one of the most affluent areas in the country trading power—but the people will lose." In an excerpt shared by Politico, Yang dives into the problems of power, noting it makes people "more impulsive, more reckless and less able to see things from others' points of view." In presidential politics, "the job was simply the seeking of attention" and "the people around me treated me as either a celebrity or a product that hundreds of staffers were focused on selling," he writes.

NASCAR's John Wes Townley Dead at 31 After Fatal Shooting

Over the weekend, the former NASCAR driver was killed in a "double shooting" in Georgia, an Athens-Clarke County coroner confirmed to the Athens Banner-Herald. He was 31. A spokesperson for Athens-Clarke County Police Department, Lt. Shaun Barnett, also told the outlet that when authorities responded to the incident around 9 p.m. on Oct. 2, Townley and a 30-year-old female had been shot. After being transported to a local hospital, Townley passed away, while Barnett confirmed the female's injuries are "serious."

While no charges have been made, Barnett told the publication that authorities have been in contact with a suspect—a 32-year-old male who was "known to the victim." An investigation is currently ongoing. However, per the outlet, Lt. Barnett notes that the situation "appears related to domestic violence."

E! News has reached out to authorities for additional details but has not heard back.

Georgia: Teen discovers mom's dead body in bed after neighbor's gun accidentally discharges

Teen discovers mom’s dead body in bed after neighbor’s gun accidentally discharges

A man is jailed and a Houston family in mourning after a woman’s 17-year-old son found her dead in bed of a gunshot wound to the head.

Police in Gwinnett County, Ga., arrested arrested Maxwell Williamson, 22, of Duluth after his gun went off accidentally while he was cleaning it. The bullet tore through his apartment wall into the bedroom of Carlether Foley, 36, hitting her in the head and killing her, police said.

Williamson was charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct and was being held without bond at the Gwinnett County Jail.

The tragedy unfolded just after 11:15 p.m. on Sept. 25, when police officers responded to an “unknown medical call” and found Foley unresponsive, cops said in a statement. They found a bullet hole in the apartment wall.

“The Gwinnett Fire Department arrived on scene and located Foley deceased with a gunshot wound to the head,” police said. “Williamson stated he had an accidental discharge while he was loading his firearm.”

Williamson’s attorney, Jeff Sliz, told police that after the gun went off, he knocked on the Foleys’ door to check on them but got no answer, reported WSB-TV. After jotting a note offering to pay for any damage, he went to work, not realizing he’d shot and killed someone.

fired healthcare worker says she wouldn't get vaxxed even if God said 'you must take this vaccine'

A New York healthcare worker who was just fired for refusing the COVID-19 shot says she wouldn't get it even if God said 'you must take this vaccine'

Karen Roses of Riverhead, New York was fired from a Northwell Health hospital for refusing to take the coronavirus vaccine.
New York's COVID-19 vaccination mandate went into effect on September 27, requiring hospital and nursing home healthcare workers to have received their first dose.

Roses is one of a fraction of healthcare employees who would rather be terminated than get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Karen Roses worked at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, New York for over three years as a patient care technician. She said the pandemic has been exhausting, leaving medical personnel burnt out and hospitals understaffed. Then came the vaccination mandate.

---------------

Roses said she won't get the vaccine because it feels "rushed" and "forced," and it doesn't guarantee that she won't get coronavirus or spread it to others. Experts have said the vaccine was developed quickly because countries and organizations heavily invested in its development, which saved time, as Insider's Mary Meisenzahl previously reported.

"God could come down and say to me, 'You must take this vaccine.' And I'd be like, 'Sorry, Charlie,'" Roses said. "It's not something that somebody specifically or a specific group has to tell me it's safe. My research has to tell me it's safe. The people that I talk to... I don't know how to really explain that, but I kind of have to see it for myself."

Lauren "El" Cho, 30, reportedly walked away from an Airbnb on the 8600 block of Benmar Trail in Yucca Valley on June 28 around 5 p.m. The mountainous area is about a 30-minute drive north of Palm Springs and surrounded by desert hiking trails.

"Someone knows something. Maybe someone has seen something, and these pictures will jog their memory," Cho's sister wrote on the Find Lauren Cho Facebook page.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Mara Rodriguez told Inside Edition that Cho was staying at the rental with a group of friends and reportedly became "upset" over an unspecified issue. She then allegedly walked away from the rental without taking food, water or her phone and hasn't been heard from since. Cho was reported missing by her ex-boyfriend about three hours after she walked off. The ex-boyfriend indicated Cho may have been in "mental distress," according to police.
