London police tell women to run from lone police officers if they are concerned.

advice that would not go well for POC in America.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

London's Metropolitan Police has issued advice to women approached by lone police officers in the wake of Sarah Everard's murder, including telling them to run "into a house," "wave down a bus" or call the police on 999 if they do not believe the officer is "who they say they are" after questioning them.

Prosecutors said Everard was walking to her London home on March 3 when serving police officer Wayne Couzens used his police identification and handcuffs to deceive her into getting in his car under the pretense that she had violated Covid-19 rules. He raped her and strangled her with his police belt later that evening.

Couzens was sentenced Thursday to a whole-life prison term, which is very rare in the United Kingdom and reserved for exceptionally serious crimes. It means the defendant is never considered for parole.

2 old rightwing yale donors want prestigious program taught "the way Henry Kissinger would"

Leader of Prestigious Yale Program Resigns, Citing Donor Pressure
The historian Beverly Gage, who has run the Grand Strategy course since 2017, says the university failed to stand up for academic freedom amid inappropriate efforts to influence the curriculum.

-------------------------------

The donors, both prominent and deep-pocketed, are Nicholas F. Brady, a former U.S. Treasury secretary under Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, and Charles B. Johnson, a mutual fund billionaire and leading Republican donor who in 2013 made a $250 million donation to Yale — the largest gift in its history.

---------------------------------

But she said the tone abruptly changed last November, a week after the presidential election, when Bryan Garsten, a Yale political scientist who teaches in the program, published an opinion article called “How to Protect America From the Next Donald Trump.”

The next day, Professor Gage received an email from Mr. Hill saying Mr. Brady had called “to grouse” about the article, “complaining that there was no grand strategy in it.” According to the email, which was viewed by The Times, Mr. Brady also said that “this is not what Charlie Johnson and I signed up for.” (Mr. Hill died last March, at 84.)

In a phone call with Professor Gage that day, Mr. Brady reiterated his view and began asking about the syllabus and practitioners. “It was strange, because none of that had changed much in the past three years,” she said.

Representatives for Mr. Brady, 91, and Mr. Johnson, 88, said they were unavailable for comment.

In another phone call, on Nov. 13, Professor Gage said, Mr. Brady lamented that the program isn’t “what it was.” When she pressed for specifics, he said she wasn’t teaching Grand Strategy “the way Henry Kissinger would.”

“I said, ‘That’s absolutely right. I am not teaching Grand Strategy the way Henry Kissinger would,’” she said.

What happened to Marco Rubio, Time mag's 'Republican Savior' of 2013?

When Time magazine's Feb.18, 2013 cover featured then-41-year-old Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), the declarative headline read: "The Republican Savior: How Marco Rubio became the new voice of the GOP."

When Time magazine's Feb.18, 2013 cover featured then-41-year-old Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), the declarative headline read: "The Republican Savior: How Marco Rubio became the new voice of the GOP."

--------------

Fast forward eight years to last week's Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey, in which Rubio's "new voice" and "Republican Savior" monikers have not aged well. At age 50, he languishes at the bottom of his party's 2024 presidential prospects list - supported by just 3 percent of Republican voters.

So, what happened to Marco Rubio, the GOP's "new leader for the next generation"?

-----------

As we head into the 2022 election cycle, Rubio has carved out a lane of national and Senate respectability. But the early momentum from his 2013 glory days is lost because the Republican Party and Tea Party wing that first elected him in 2010 has radically changed. Rubio belongs to the Trumplican Party now but is not considered a true MAGA-hat-wearing believer.

Politically speaking, the two-term senator is smothered by Gov. DeSantis, who is smothered by former President Trump. Loyalty to Trump is the only standard that seems to matter. And Trumplicans, especially those in Florida, know the difference between true believers and those who pretend because they have no choice.

Kansas student was asked to homecoming with a blatantly racist sign. It wasn't the first time the phrase was used to score a date to a high school dance.

"I felt it was important to share that we are working to thoroughly investigate the situation and contact all parties involved, including student guardians," Olathe South Principal Dale Longenecker wrote in a statement, citing a report by local news station KSHB. "At Olathe South and in the Olathe Public Schools, we are committed to creating an inclusive and safe environment for ALL our students."

"The type of behavior displayed in the social media post does not meet the expectations of our core values. Any behavior like this will be immediately addressed in accordance with our Student Code of Conduct," Longenecker continued.

St. James Academy, a Catholic school where the other student attends, also condemned the incident and launched an investigation, saying in a statement that "racism in any form is an assault on human dignity."

Rhonda Windholz, the mother of the teenage girl in the viral photo, defended her daughter after she received backlash and death threats in response to the proposal sign.

"Caught up in the excitement of being asked to her first-ever homecoming, our daughter held the sign that was given to her," Windholz told KSHB. "It was only after actually comprehending the situation, that she realized what was happening. She blatantly said no!! By then, it was too late."

"One Caucasian and one African-American boy were involved. It was the African-American boy who actually made the sign, already marked up and took the picture," Windholz added. "This by no means makes it right but should shed some light on the situation."
