professional photographer who reported a deer caught in netting ultimately captured its unusual rescue in photos, including one amazing image showing a game warden shooting off the buck’s antler with a shotgun.
The image shows game warden Ryan Zawada of the Pennsylvania Game Commission kneeling with his shotgun aimed high, smoke lingering around it, the shotgun shell flying off to the right, and the deer freed from the netting with one less antler.
Subsequent photos by Patrick Scott shows the freed deer bounding off and the tangled antler left behind in the nylon netting, which is supported by steel cables and was used by a former winery, as reported by the Courier Times.

Texas demands drug companies turn over documents on 'puberty blocking' drugs for children
Reuters) - The Texas attorney general on Thursday ordered drugmakers Abbvie Inc and Endo International to turn over materials related to the sale of puberty blockers to children who believe they are transgender, part of an investigation into their off-label use.
The demand comes during a growing controversy over the use of medication given to halt the development of puberty and secondary sex characteristics in children as young as 8 who have been diagnosed with gender dysphoria. Transgender issues and treatments have increasingly become part of a national debate in America.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has said he is investigating whether pharmaceutical companies are promoting hormone therapies such as Supprelin LA and Lupron to children and their parents without disclosing potential long-term effects.
"I will not allow Big Pharma to misleadingly promote these drugs that may pose a high risk of serious physical and psychological damage to Texas children who cannot yet fathom or consent to the potential long-term effects of such use," Paxton said in a statement.

A video showing a senior citizen-aged woman successfully stopping a shoplifter at Walmart has garnered 7.3 million views and sparked a debate about the ethics of stopping shoplifters in its comments section.

In the video, a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and ski mask is pushing a full cart of what appear to be name-brand groceries when he is asked by the person filming if he is going to pay for it. He replies "yes" and keeps moving toward the door when he is stopped by an older woman who is about to cross the threshold of the sliding doors. As he attempts to push past her, she pulls his mask up, revealing his face. She and the person filming yank his cart back into the store.
Commenters are debating whether it is ethical to stop shoplifters who may not have money to pay for laundry detergent or other items that were in this man's cart.
"Society is a construct and since we can automate things eventually everything will be free," one commenter wrote. "Why should companies profit and poor people suffer?"
"Is mostly food I would’ve just let him leave," another commenter wrote. "Workers really out here doing the most for companies that will replace them in a heartbeat smh."
"He looked really sad I feel so sorry for him," a commenter wrote. "I don’t agree with what he did but I wouldn’t have stopped him if that makes sense?"

Lori Gallo, the wife of a notable California cheese company CEO, is facing legal woes after allegedly crashing her Maserati in a suspected DUI.
Gallo, 46, allegedly drove her Maserati down G Street in Merced at approximately 125 mph in January. According to a release from Merced police, Gallo side-swiped a Lexus in the same lane while trying to pass, and in the process, hit another car, a Honda, that was stopped at an intersection. Due to the impact of the crash, the Maserati and the Lexus fell into a ditch, while a fourth vehicle also sustained damage after hitting a tire that fell off Gallo's Maserati, police said. Three people were injured.
On Monday, the Merced Sun-Star reported that Gallo pleaded not guilty in Merced County court to two felony DUI charges.
Gallo is married to Michael Gallo, the CEO and co-founder of Joseph Farms. He founded the cheese and dairy company with his father Joseph in 1982 as an offshoot of Joseph’s farm operations. It was famously renamed to remove the Gallo name after Ernest and Julio Gallo, the proprietors of the famed Gallo winery in California, sued Joseph. Ernest, Julio and Joseph Gallo are all brothers.
Since the accident, the Sun-Star reported, Lori Gallo attended Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and a DWI program. The judge banned her from entering bars and other establishments that mainly sell alcohol, and ordered her to not use drugs or drink alcohol.

candidate — an oak tree said to have been planted 198 years ago by the novelist Ivan Turgenev — from the European Tree of the Year competition.
“We cannot stand idly by and watch the unprecedented aggression of the Russian leadership against a neighboring country,” the organizers of the competition, one of the largest competitions devoted to trees, said in a statement.

At an awards ceremony in Brussels on Tuesday, the organizers announced this year’s winner: Poland, for a 400-year-old oak tree that organizers said had become a symbol of Polish resistance to aggression and its warm welcome to refugees from Ukraine. The second place tree was a 250-year-old oak tree in the Santiago de Compostela region of Spain, and third place went to a 250-year-old cork oak tree in Vale do Pereiro, a village in Portugal.
The Polish tree sits in the Bialowieza forest, the last primeval forest in Europe’s lowlands, which stretches across the border of Poland and Belarus. This year, construction workers began work on a 115-mile, 18-foot-high metal wall through the forest, intended to block migrants, mostly from the Middle East and Africa, from crossing into Poland from Belarus.
