A 59-year-old man allegedly punched a pregnant woman, who is also deaf, and her service dog during a Frontier Airlines flight from Colorado Springs to Orlando on Thursday.

The Orlando Police Department told the Orlando Sentinel that Timothy Manley was traveling with his family and was seated near a deaf couple with a service dog.

According to police, Manley's wife complained about being allergic to dogs after the plane landed and taxied towards the gate. Manley told police he felt the family's service dog, a Great Dane, "took up more space than [he] felt it deserved." He then reportedly punched the animal with a closed fist.

The dog let out a yelp and hid underneath a seat, which caused the couple to try to express anger at Manley.

Manley then "got into the man's face" and punched the woman, who is 20 weeks pregnant, according to the Sentinel.

However, Manley's wife told WFTV that the whole incident was a "misunderstanding."

Manley's wife said that her husband "accidentally swatted the [service dog] when it startled him, but he couldn't convey that" to the couple.

ex-boyfriend of woman who died in spa explosion: 1st wife died in accident, had destructive devices

He told federal agents he was trying to help neighbors take care of a "gopher problem."

Stephen Beal’s home was searched after his ex-girlfriend, Ildiko Krajnyak, died in a bombing Tuesday at a day spa the two opened together. Beal was a partner in the business.

Beal has not been charged in connection with the bombing that killed Krajnyak, said the FBI according to NBC Los Angeles. FBI agents said they are still investigating specifics of how the explosion happened but also said it was probably intentional.

Beal said he dated the victim for a year and half and they stopped dating by either February or March. FBI Special Agent Evan Jesch wrote an affadavit that notes that the relationship “began to cool due to disputes over the exclusivity of the relationship and financial issues,” according to NBC News.

Beal’s current girlfiend told authorities that she knew the salon was the same as the one belonging to Beal and his ex-girlfriend when she saw the news of the explosion on television.

Beal’s first wife died in an accident while the couple was moving furniture, neighbors have told reporters. The Orange County Register looked at the coroner’s records and found that the cause of death was listed as undetermined and that an autopsy report described her death as mysterious but that there was no evidence of foul play.

He did not enter a plea on Thursday and will be in federal court again on Monday, to find out whether he will be released and where bail will be set, according to the Orange County Register.

The Trump administration is doubling down on its efforts to undo Obama-era fair-housing policies in the wake of a lawsuit alleging that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development had wrongfully suspended a requirement that communities address barriers to racial integration.

HUD on Friday evening announced that it is withdrawing a computer assessment tool that provides communities with data and maps to help them gauge neighborhood segregation.

The tool, developed during the Obama administration, was meant to help communities comply with a little-enforced provision of the 1968 Fair Housing Act that compelled local governments to use federal dollars to end residential segregation.

But HUD on Friday said the tool was “confusing, difficult to use, and frequently produced unacceptable assessments.”

“We believe in furthering fair housing choice in our neighborhoods, but we have to help, not hinder those who have to put our rules into practice,” Anna Maria Farías, HUD’s assistant secretary for fair housing and equal opportunity, said in a statement. “We must make certain that our tools can facilitate the goals we all share — to build inclusive and sustainable communities free from discrimination.”

KARMA! men who posted mugshots online & charged to have them removed - Arrested

Karma can be painful, as the alleged owners of a controversial website which publishes police mugshots and charges people to have them removed, have discovered.

On Wednesday, Thomas Keesee and Sahar Sarid, two of the alleged owners of Mugshots.com, were arrested in Florida, following an investigation led by the Northern California Computer Crimes Task Force. California’s attorney general, Xavier Becerra, has brought criminal charges against both men as well as the other two co-owners, Kishore Vidya Bhavnanie and David Usdan.

The four defendants are accused of extracting more than $2m in mugshot-removal fees from over 5,000 people in a three-year period. Of those people, 175 have billing addresses in California, where the alleged Mugshot.com owners will face trial for extortion, money laundering and identity theft.


“This pay-for-removal scheme attempts to profit off of someone else’s humiliation,” Becerra said in a press release. “Those who can’t afford to pay into this scheme to have their information removed pay the price when they look for a job, housing or try to build relationships with others. This is exploitation, plain and simple.”

"Sitting next to a smelly fatty:" Good Samaritan steps in after mom body-shamed on airplane

The mother said she always preferred to sit by herself in flights because she was self-conscious about her weight, and feared others would feel uncomfortable sitting next to her.

A man she described to be in his 60s with yellow sunglasses who claimed to be a comedian sat next right next to her.

Her post stated,"As soon as I got buckled, he sat back down...his phone was maybe 12 inches from my face and he proceeded to text someone that he was sitting next to a "smelly fatty." I don’t even know what the rest of his text said. I turned my head away as fast as I could. I was shocked and it was like confirmation of the negative things I think about myself on a daily basis. Before I knew it, I could feel hot, salty tears coming down my face."

They weighed no more than 40 pounds each and reached just up to one's knees, but all together, a pack of seven dachshunds proved a deadly force in Oklahoma. Carter County Sheriff Chris Bryant says 52-year-old Tracy Garcia was mauled and killed Thursday night by her neighbor's dogs near her home outside Ardmore, KXII reports. When first responders arrived on the scene, at least one of the dachshunds turned on them, too, even charging toward the rescuers. "Unfortunately … we had to shoot one dog," Bryant says, per KFOR, adding they opened fire on it "to protect our deputies, as well as the medical personnel." After the attack, the owner requested the other six dogs be put down, too. The AP reports it's not clear what led to the attack.

"There were seven dogs - three were females, four of them were males," Dinwiddie said. "They all ranged from probably a year to about three years (old)."

The shelter's euthanasia technician Amanda Dinwiddie says six of the dogs are believed to be standard dachshund and terrier mix, one is believed to be a border collie mix.

None of the dogs weighed more than 40 pounds and taller than knee high.

"A predominant breed in these dogs is definitely standard dachshund," Dinwiddie said. "They have really noticeable characteristics like their knobby legs, knees, very short legged dogs and their coats."

Dinwiddie says the dogs were infested with fleas and ticks but didn't have any other visible health concerns.

"We were cleaning ticks off ourselves all day," Dinwiddie said. "They are very covered, you can tell they have been living out in the woods."

Duke Univ aftermath - the coffee shop closes, rapper Young Dolph gives Baristas 20K

On Wednesday, Sprudge reported on the now-infamous firing of two Joe Van Gogh baristas from the cafe’s Duke University location after VP of Student Affairs Larry Moneta took umbrage with the song playing while he was waiting in line for his hot tea and vegan muffin. As we noted previously, the song in question, “Get Paid” by rapper Young Dolph, is not light on the curses and is the sort of song to have the pearl clutching crowd do what they do best. In the past five days, this story has continued to develop, so we are taking a look back at what has transpired since then.



Joe Van Gogh Cuts Ties With Duke

n Friday, Joe Van Gogh owner Robbie Roberts issued a statement announcing that effective immediately, the company would be severing ties with Duke University in order to “preserve Joe Van Gogh’s brand independence without conditions.” Because of the closing, JVG will be offering jobs to all the displaced staff—including Britni Brown and Kevin Simmons, the two baristas fired in the incidient—at other off-campus locations or at the production facility.

It’s not all kinda-good-but-mostly-not news though thanks to Young Dolph, who turns out is the hero of this story. When the rapper heard about the baristas who were fired for playing his music, he not only flew them out to Miami to attend the Rolling Loud music festival but also brought Brown and Simmons on stage during his performance to give them $20,000. It is a very cool gesture by Young Dolph, one that sent the thousands of music festival attendees into a frenzy.
