Trump Rally highlights - scary rhetoric: "They will strip Americans of their Constitutional rights"

'If I deleted one email like a love note to Melania, It's the electric chair for Trump!' President rails against 'Crooked Hillary' in Orlando and 'fake news' as he claims it's the DEMS who want to abuse the 'power of the law to punish opponents'

The president spent the first half-hour of a Tuesday night rally hammering his old foe Hillary Clinton

Trump said his team wondered if it should hold the rally in a venue which can hold 20,000 people
‘Not only did we fill it up, but we had 120,000 requests...Congratulations!’ the president said to cheers

The president's daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, invited the criticism when she wound up an arena of supporters
Husband Eric, who spoke after her, had a crowd of more than 20,000 screaming, 'CNN Sucks!'
'He loves this country and we, as a family, love this country. We're going to fight like hell', Eric said

Donald Trump Jr. mocked Joe Biden before the rowdy crowd that waited in the heat and rain for hours
'He gets up on the stump. It's so stupid,' he said, claiming the ex-VP has four-person crowds

‘The Democrats don’t care about Russia, they only care about their own political power. They went after my family, my business, my finances, my employees, almost everyone that I’ve ever known or worked with. But they are really going after you. That’s what it’s all about. It’s not about us, it’s about you. They tried to erase your vote, erase your legacy of the greatest campaign and the greatest election probably in the history of our country,’ he claimed.

The president said, ‘They wanted to deny you the future you demanded and the future that America deserved and that now America is getting. Our radical Democrat opponents are driven by hatred, prejudice and rage. They want to destroy you, and they want to destroy our country as we know it. Not acceptable, it’s not going to happen. Not gonna happen.’

Trump claimed that Democrats would use the ‘power of the law to punish their opponents’ if they take back the seat of power.

‘Imagine if we had a Democrat president and a Democrat Congress in 2020. They would shut down your free speech, use the power of the law to punish their opponents – which they’re trying to do now anyway – they’ll always be trying to shield themselves,’ he said.’ They will strip Americans of their Constitutional rights while flooding the country with illegal immigrants in the hopes it will expand their political base and they’ll get votes someplace down the future. That’s what it’s about.’

First 2020 presidential endorsement by a newspaper: "Not Donald Trump"

https://www.orlandosentinel.com/opinion/editorials/os-op-sentinel-not-endorsing-donald-trump-2020-20190618-63ya7cyb5ngf3irllodwxnznui-story.html

Our Orlando Sentinel endorsement for president in 2020: Not Donald Trump | Editorial

Donald Trump is in Orlando to announce the kickoff of his re-election campaign.

We’re here to announce our endorsement for president in 2020, or, at least, who we’re not endorsing: Donald Trump.

Some readers will wonder how we could possibly eliminate a candidate so far before an election, and before knowing the identity of his opponent.

Because there’s no point pretending we would ever recommend that readers vote for Trump.

After 2½ years we’ve seen enough.

Enough of the chaos, the division, the schoolyard insults, the self-aggrandizement, the corruption, and especially the lies.

So many lies — from white lies to whoppers — told out of ignorance, laziness, recklessness, expediency or opportunity.

Trump’s capacity for lying isn’t the surprise here, though the frequency is.

It’s the tolerance so many Americans have for it.

Group of black friends kicked out of Airbnb by host who called them "monkeys

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2019/06/03/airbnb-racism-host-monkey-black-men-new-york/?utm_term=.4959f2a29ff5

On Friday, a group of friends arrived in New York City for a weekend away together. They flew in from all across the U.S. and booked an Airbnb in Manhattan for the length of their stay. On the night of their arrival, however, a racist exchange with their Airbnb host left them reeling – and searching for alternate accommodations in the middle of the night.

According to a now viral thread of tweets by Kenneth Simpson Jr., one of the friends, the men were led to believe that they were booking two private bedrooms on the top floor of an owner-on-site Upper East Side residence, and that it would be alright if they listened to music during their stay. Around 2 a.m., however, the owner decided that they were being too loud, and asked them to pack their things and go.

That's when things got heated.

Last night, a group of friends and I reserved an Airbnb in NYC, and encountered a racist and rude host.
We arrived to our @Airbnb, and we were harassed several times before being thrown out at 2 am. Her reasonings were because she felt unsafe, we were going to steal and destroy her property, and then told us to “Get the fuck out of her house immediately!” We cooperated and began to pack our things to leave.
As we were packing, she busts in the door with a camera. We asked her to at least respect our privacy while packing since someone had gotten out of the shower. She yells “No, it’s my house. Get the fuck out! You are all criminals! I don’t feel safe in my home!” She later asked us “Which monkey is sleeping on the couch?” We are a group of 4 educated and working professionals and were classified as criminals and animals over and over again.

"We are a group of 4 educated and working professionals and were classified as criminals and animals over and over again," Simpson continued in his post. "This was very traumatic for us, personally. She became so angry, rude, and disrespectful that we had to call @NYPD because we weren't sure if she'd attack us."

Airbnb has now deactivated the woman's account. The company also replied to a response on Simpson's Twitter thread, stating: "The language is unacceptable and has no place in the Airbnb community. We've removed the host from our platform and are supporting the guests with a new place to stay. We're thankful to them for bringing this to our attention so we could take action."

"Use of a baseball bat in self-defense will likely be viewed as an imbalance of force"

Poor kid would be sent away for 20 years for this. Kids of privilege get protected.

As Trump’s defense pick withdraws, he addresses violent domestic incidents

-----

In November 2011, Shanahan rushed to defend his then-17-year-old son, William Shanahan, in the days after the teenager brutally beat his mother. The attack had left Shanahan’s ex-wife unconscious in a pool of blood, her skull fractured, and with internal injuries that required surgery, according to court and police records.

Two weeks later, Shanahan sent his ex-wife’s brother a memo arguing that his son had acted in self-defense.

“Use of a baseball bat in self-defense will likely be viewed as an imbalance of force,” Shanahan wrote. “However, Will’s mother harassed him for nearly three hours before the incident.”

Details of the incidents have started to emerge in media reports about his nomination, including a USA Today report Tuesday about the punching incident in 2010.

In an hour-long interview Monday night at his apartment in Virginia, Shanahan, who has been responding to questions from The Post about the incidents since January, said he wrote the memo in the hours after his son’s attack, before he knew the full extent of his ex-wife’s injuries. He said it was to prepare for his son’s initial court appearance and that he never intended for anyone other than his son’s attorneys to read it.

Only a few people showed up for the so-called Impeachment rallies over the weekend. The numbers were anemic, no spirit, no hope. More importantly, No Collusion, No Obstruction!

Wow! The State Department said it has identified 30 Security Incidents involving current or former employees and their handling of Crooked Hillary Clinton’s Emails. @FoxNews This is really big. Never admitted before. Highly Classified Material. Will the Dems investigate this?

Lindsey Howley, who has been with the department for one year and Bailey Ueberroth, who has been with the department for six months, will both be away from the department while an internal investigation is conducted.

Lansing police chief Mike Yankowski released body camera footage of the Saturday arrest on Dakin Street where one officer appears to be punching the girl’s legs in the back of a patrol vehicle after she refused to get inside.

Next week ICE will begin the process of removing the millions of illegal aliens who have illicitly found their way into the United States. They will be removed as fast as they come in. Mexico, using their strong immigration laws, is doing a very good job of stopping people......

Trump's mental gymnastics are incomprehensible

Only a man who is, like, really smart could perform mental gymnastics at the level President Trump has attained over the past few days.

On Saturday, Trump declared that the New York Times committed a “virtual act of Treason” by reporting on a U.S. cyber campaign against Russia.

Mere seconds later, he proclaimed that the supposedly treasonous report was “ALSO, NOT TRUE!”

Thus, in Trump’s telling, did the journalists commit the capital offense of .?.?. divulging false state secrets?

During his interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, meanwhile, Trump denied that internal Trump campaign polling showed him trailing: “Those polls don’t exist.”

Trump then fired his campaign pollsters for leaking .?.?. the supposedly nonexistent polls. (This was similar to Trump calling Bob Woodward a writer of “fiction” while simultaneously venting at his aides for “leaking” this supposed fiction to Woodward.)

This nightmare is what Venezuela has become

The walkers come in a steady flow, individually and in small groups, through most of the day. The serpentine mountain road they take often has little room at the sides, leaving refugees in the path of traffic. The 350-mile journey to Bogota is part forced march and part pilgrimage — impelled by hunger and desperation in Venezuela, but also drawn toward a new start in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru or beyond.

At this point in the Venezuelan crisis, many of the men have already gone ahead in search of work. Their families now follow. Children drag luggage behind them. Mothers carry babies or cranky toddlers. Their clothing is generally unsuited to a trek in which temperatures often start in the high 90s but dip into the low 40s in the mountains. Many make the long walk in either flip-flops or Crocs.

Along the route are a string of way stations, run and supported by organizations including the International Committee of the Red Cross, Oxfam, Samaritan’s Purse and World Vision (my host). A station known as El Diamante, sponsored by a local Catholic church, is helping 300 to 400 walkers a day, providing hot food, bathroom facilities and temporary shelter.

“There is no work and no food [back in Venezuela],” one woman resting at El Diamante told me. “I can’t buy diapers or milk.” Another added, “I came here because I suffer with diabetes and can’t find any medicine there.” A man holding his child explained to me, “My son didn’t have anything to eat. I need to fight for him.”

--------

Venezuela is now a world leader in the production of desperation. In the early 2000s, socialist strongman Hugo Chávez created a system, funded by oil revenue, in which food, education and health care were all essentially free. Salaries were small but were mainly used for extras, not essentials. When the price of oil crashed, so did the system of subsidies. Poor and middle-class Venezuelans were left only with their salaries, paid in a local currency that hyperinflation rendered essentially worthless. Some products are still available, but only when purchased with U.S. dollars.

Woman who asked for Mariah Carey cake got Marie Curie instead

My cousin in England told her colleagues she wanted a Mariah Carey birthday cake. They misunderstood, and is the cake they made her instead. It’s Marie Curie, looking very festive.

If this cake glows… it may not be because of the candles.

A British woman asked for a cake decorated with Mariah Carey‘s picture for her birthday — but got a baked good with Nobel Prize winner Marie Curie instead.

“My cousin in England told her colleagues she wanted a Mariah Carey birthday cake. They misunderstood, and is the cake they made her instead,” tweeted Harriet Aida Lye. “It’s Marie Curie, looking very festive.”

In the image shared by Lye, the sweet treat can be seen topped with the somber face of the French-Polish physicist, known for her groundbreaking work on radioactivity.

“Happy Birthday Siobhan” is written in plain block letters on the brown cake and seven pink-frosted cupcakes sit on the same plate.

Lye’s tweet was shared more than 44,000 times and liked more than 207,000 times since Friday, even eliciting a response from the “Hero” singer herself.

“This could’ve been me if only I hadn’t failed remedial math,” Mariah Carey tweeted. “Happy birthday Siobhan!”
