road rage killers arrested, shot dead 6 yr old after mom gave them the finger

Man and woman arrested in shooting death of 6-year-old Aiden Leos on 55 Freeway in Orange

Marcus Anthony Eriz & Wynne Lee Costa Mesa California couple arrested in road rage shooting of Aiden Leos 6 year old boy shot dead along Orange highway.

A Costa Mesa couple have been arrested in connection to the road rage killing of 6-year-old boy, Aiden Leos, who was struck by gunfire on the 55 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP confirmed the arrest of two suspects, Marcus Anthony Eriz, 24, and Wynne Lee, 23, thought to be boyfriend and girlfriend who authorities believe to be culpable for the shooting death of Aiden last month.

The pair were arrested on Sunday at their home in Costa Mesa and are expected to be charged with murder according to a CHP release. Per sources close to the case, both suspects are being held at the Orange County Jail on $1 million bond each.

‘On behalf of Border Division Chief Omar Watson, and the Santa Ana Area, we are deeply grateful for the professionalism and tireless commitment of our investigators who have worked on this case from day one to find those responsible for Aiden’s death,’ said CHP Commissioner Amanda Rey. ‘While these arrests will not ease the pain of a mother’s loss, my hope is for the Leos family to have some peace of mind and to rest assured the CHP will work with the Orange County District Attorney to bring justice for Aiden.’

The CHP Border Division Chief Watson also thanked the community for its ‘indescribable outpouring of concern and hundreds of tips’ that helped investigators find the killers.

vax rates fall from 3.4 M per day peak t0 1M per day

The United States is averaging fewer than 1 million shots per day, a decline of more than two-thirds from the peak of 3.4 million in April, according to The Washington Post’s seven-day analysis, even though all adults and children over age 12 are now eligible.

Small armies of health workers and volunteers often outnumber the people showing up to get shots at clinics around the country, from a drive-through site in Chattanooga, Tenn., to a gymnasium in Provo, Utah, or a park in Raleigh, N.C.

The slowdown is national — with every state down at least two-thirds from its peak — and particularly felt across the South and Midwest. Twelve states, including Utah, Oklahoma, Montana, the Dakotas and West Virginia, have seen vaccinations fall below 15 daily shots per 10,000 residents; Alabama had just four people per 10,000 residents get vaccinated last week.

But the picture varies considerably across the country: Thirteen mostly East and West Coast states have already vaccinated 70 percent of adult residents, and another 15 states, plus the District of Columbia, are over 60 percent and will likely reach Biden’s goal.

The rest are lagging behind. Tennessee and five other states are at 50 percent or below and vaccinating at such low rates that meeting the president’s threshold is very unlikely.

Prominent attorney is accused of killing scavenger, with the help of highway patrol officers

https://www.latimes.com/local/crime/la-me-chp-killing-20150815-story.html

Three California Highway Patrol officers, a Modesto criminal defense attorney and five others have been arrested in connection with the 2012 killing of Korey Kauffman, a 26-year-old Turlock resident whose body was found more than a year later by hunters in a remote Mariposa County forest.

The arrests — on charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy and lying in wait — follow an investigation by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department with help from the Stanislaus County district attorney’s office; police in Turlock, Modesto and Ceres; the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation; and the state Department of Justice.

Frank Clifford Carson, a prominent defense attorney who ran for Stanislaus County district attorney in 2014, is portrayed in a 334-page affidavit in support of the arrest warrants as aggressive; dismissive of help from law enforcement; angered by repeated thefts of antiques, car parts and other materials from his Turlock property; and intent on retaliating against those responsible.

Carson’s property backs up to the home where friends last saw Kauffman on March 30, 2012, after he stated that he was going to steal some irrigation pipe stacked in Carson’s yard. According to his stepfather, who first reported him missing, Kauffman made a living as a “scrapper” or scavenger of metals.

A 30-year-old mother who was arrested after posing as her daughter at a San Elizario Independent School District campus says in a YouTube video that she did it to push or better security.

Casey Garcia, 30, of San Elizario is accused of posing as a high school student.
Casey Garcia — who jail records show is 4 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 105 pounds — was arrested on one count each of criminal trespass and tampering with government records, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office officials said.

She also was arrested on an unrelated traffic warrant.

Deputies were notified Tuesday by SEISD officials of Garcia trespassing on school grounds and posing as a student, Sheriff’s Office officials said.

Several posts were made on social media documenting her posing as a student, officials said. An investigation led to two warrants being issued for Garcia’s arrest.

In a YouTube video titled, "Why I posed as my 13 year old daughter. A raw but real answer," she says she dyed her hair and used skin tanner to pose as the girl.

She says that after she was asked for her ID number at the school and whether she had signed in, she was allowed inside. She said school staff was more concerned about her phone being out than in who she actually is.

She says she was the only student "in one of my classes," adding, "The teachers were so preoccupied with the students that were online that they weren't paying attention to the students that were there physically."

Three people are dead and at least five others injured following a shooting at a Florida graduation party, the latest in a string of such violence in the Miami area, police said Sunday. One of those killed was a female state corrections officer, Miami-Dade police Director Alfredo “Freddy” Ramirez told news outlets, per the AP.

He said the party at a strip mall lounge (it was apparently a college graduation) was ending when one or more vehicles “pulled up and began to fire into the crowd.” The identities of all of those killed and wounded were not immediately released Sunday. The shooting happened about 2am in the suburb of Kendall. State corrections officials identified the officer who died as Tyleisha Taylor, 20, who had worked at Dade Correctional Institution since January 2020.

Two of those who died were in one of the cars police believe was involved in the shooting. The vehicle sped off and crashed into a nearby wall at Miami-Dade College's Kendall campus, per NBC News. Authorities found at least one gun in the car, but its exact connection to the shooting was unclear. Sunday's shooting follows a bloody Memorial Day weekend in the Miami area that saw three people killed and 20 wounded in a still-unsolved mass shooting at a banquet hall. Another shooting on May 28 in the Wynwood area killed one person and injured six others. “Every weekend, it's the same thing. We have to band together,” Ramirez said. “There's a lot of work to do. We have to come together as a community and make this stop.”

Sheriff: Florida Man Kills Boss Who Fired Him After 31 Years
Felix Cabrera allegedly shot the 67-year-old dead on Friday morning

An 86-year-old is accused of shooting and killing his boss who fired him after 31 years of work at a Florida sugar mill. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said Felix Cabrera of Belle Glade was fired from the Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative on Friday morning and asked if he could stay on one additional year for financial reasons. After being told no, law enforcement officials say "Cabrera became upset, pulled the gun out of his pocket and shot the victim several times, killing him. The AP reports the victim has thus far only been identified as a 67-year-old man from Martin County.

WPTV reports the victim was found dead near the building's entrance; Cabrera was found with a handgun in hand, per deputies. NBC News reports Cabrera has been charged with premeditated first-degree murder and is being held without bond. The cooperative is made up of 44 sugar cane farms covering about 70,000 acres in the Everglades Agricultural Area near Lake Okeechobee. The cooperative said in a statement that it was "horrified and deeply saddened by the senseless violence."
