NJ Towing Company Employee Calls Customer N-Word During Heated Argument

NJ Towing Company Employee Calls Customer N-Word During Heated Argument

A New Jersey towing company has lost its contract with a township after one of its employees was captured on camera calling a customer the n-word.

The altercation took place outside of Ajaco Towing in Parsippany-Troy Hills Township. Police are seen holding the towing company employee back at the top of a set of stairs and trying to get him inside of the building. The employee, who has not been identified, is screaming at the man recording the argument. When the employee is finally pushed inside, he is heard shouting the n-word.

NBC New York reports that the man who was recording had his car towed after getting into an accident. When he went to get his vehicle, things got out of control. The owner of Ajaco Towing, Jason Cleffi, said the man behind the cell phone recording had been there for an hour arguing with employees after he was unable to pay the towing bill. He then left and returned with the cops and words were exchanged. Cleffi claims the man recording threatened his employee.

“Two men got into a heated argument that never should’ve happened,” Cleffi told NBC New York. “I take it very serious. I have to apologize for my employee’s action, I have to apologize to anyone who had to be subjected to that. I do not tolerate that.”

Here is more from NBC New York:

The town of Parsippany called the employee’s behavior “inexcusable,” and said in a statement that “After reviewing the video, the Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills and the Parsippany Police Department has decided to no longer use Ajaco Towing effective immediately. Additionally, Ajaco Towing has been removed from any rotation list for any towing business conducted by municipal operations.”

Cleffi said that “both men should be reprimanded for their behavior,” saying that the racist language “was used in both party’s mouths.”

"I was an idiot"..21 stories of people who regret not getting vaxxed

https://www.sfgate.com/nation/article/regret-COVID-unvaccinated-hospital-coronavirus-16378317.php?IPID=SFGate-HP-Editors-Picks

An unvaccinated California father of nine children got COVID-19 and landed in the hospital, and while he recovers, he remains dependent on oxygen and unable to do most daily activities. Jonathan Weltsch of Humboldt County told the Times-Standard he regretted not getting inoculated.

“I was told my whole life not to take experimental drugs and I was 100% against an experimental vaccine,” Weltsch said. “I was so strong-willed against it. … Then I lost my breath and I wished I was vaccinated.”

That's one story. A Missouri mother of an unvaccinated 37-year-old who died of COVID-19 shared another: Kimberle Jones told the New York Times she got the jab as soon as she was able to, but she said her daughter believed that the government-run campaign was a plot against Black people like her.

“I want to be a voice for her,” Jones said. “I really think my daughter would want me to say, ‘Go get vaccinated.’”

Another mother shared with KHTV that her 13-year-old got coronavirus and was fighting for his life. Angela Morris of Arkansas said the hardest part about watching her son suffer is it could have been preventable if he were vaccinated.

"I'm a cop, what are you going to do about it?"

'What Are You Going to Do About It?': Cop Allegedly Punches Husband After Harassing His Wife

The officer has been accused of punching a man whose wife rebuffed earlier advances the officer made inside the establishment, according to an arrest report that the New Smyrna Beach Police Department (NSBPD) provided to Newsweek Monday afternoon.

Authorities identified the accused officer as Naci Tuzcuoglu. Edgewater police confirmed in an email to Newsweek that Tuzcuoglu was an officer with their department.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday at Peanuts Restaurant and Sports Bar in New Smyrna Beach, not far north of Edgewater in Volusia County and northeast of Orlando. Neither the man Tuzcuoglu allegedly punched nor the individual's wife were publicly identified in the NSBPD report.

The arrest report said Tuzcuoglu began interacting with the woman inside Peanuts while she was singing karaoke with her sister. When Tuzcuoglu placed his hands on the woman's hips, she told him she was married and not interested in his attention, according to the arrest report.

After Tuzcuoglu persisted, the woman went outside to talk with her husband. The couple told NSBPD they were then approached by Tuzcuoglu outside, who showed them his badge and said, "I'm a cop, what are you going to do about it?"

Tuzcuoglu allegedly punched the woman's husband multiple times before authorities arrived. The officer was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery, according to the NSBPD.

Man intervenes after his Karen wife harasses a Black couple "get your stupid ass in the car"

?auto=compress%2Cformat&fit=scale&h=384&ixlib=php-3.3.0&w=768&wpsize=medium_large

The man can be heard yelling at his wife and gesturing to the Black couple, saying, “You don’t know him, you don’t know her.”

“Fuck you. Get in the car,” the man says directly in his wife’s face. It’s unclear what sparked the interaction between the two couples.

The Black woman, who appears to be recording the footage, cackles and yells, “Erin get your stupid ass in the car. Get in the car, Erin.”

The Karen, aptly identified as Erin, says something unintelligible, prompting her husband to repeat, “You do not know him. You do not know her. You don’t know anybody around here. You are not special. Get your stupid ass in the car.”

Erin snapped back saying the Black man was a “fucking crack dealer.” Her husband asked why she thought that—because the man was driving a “fucking Buick”?

Kathy Hochul Is Looking in New York City for a Second-in-Command to balance ticket for 2022 primary

Kathy Hochul Is Looking in New York City for a Second-in-Command
Ms. Hochul, New York’s governor-in-waiting, plans to pick a No. 2 who is a downstate lawmaker and a person of color, to give her a balanced ticket in the 2022 primary.

Mr. Cuomo was seeking to balance the Democratic ticket by selecting Ms. Hochul, a woman from Western New York, as lieutenant governor. In doing so, he unwittingly created a path that would eventually lead to Ms. Hochul’s historic ascension next week, when she becomes the state’s first female governor.

Now, as Ms. Hochul contemplates her own second-in-command, politics will once again play a role. She has said she intends to choose a lieutenant governor from New York City, and she has focused on several elected officials who are people of color.

Ms. Hochul, who is expected to announce her selection next week, has a short list of candidates that currently includes State Senator Jamaal Bailey, the chairman of the Democratic Party in the Bronx; State Senator Brian Benjamin of Harlem; Rubén Díaz Jr., the outgoing Bronx borough president; and Assemblywoman Rodneyse Bichotte, the chairwoman of the Democratic Party in Brooklyn, according to five people familiar with the process.

By selecting a lawmaker who is a person of color and from the city, Ms. Hochul — a white moderate Democrat from the Buffalo region — may be aiming to broaden her appeal and ward off some potential primary challengers.

Sardinian Village Tries to Save an Ancient Tree Scorched by Fire

Sardinian Village Tries to Save an Ancient Tree Scorched by Fire
A team of experts, with the help of local residents and authorities, is trying to revive an ancient olive tree in the hilltop village of Cuglieri that was engulfed in a catastrophic wildfire.

To the people of Cuglieri, a small hilltop village on the Italian island of Sardinia, the tree was simply “the Patriarch.”

Over the course of its long life — estimates of its age range from 1,800 to 2,000 years old — the olive tree became a behemoth, with a trunk 11 feet, or 3.4 meters, wide, and an integral part of an ancient landscape in western Sardinia. But after a large area of vegetation and numerous farms and villages in the region were devastated by one of the biggest wildfires in decades, time finally caught up with the Patriarch.

--------------

Now local residents and the authorities are pinning their hopes for the survival of their ancient olive tree on Gianluigi Bacchetta, a professor at the University of Cagliari and the director of its botanical gardens, who is trying to bring the Patriarch back to life.
The ancient olive tree was engulfed in flames, and its giant trunk burned for almost two days.

-------------------

“We needed to create an intensive care unit for the tree,” he said in a telephone interview. “It really is a living being that underwent serious trauma,” Professor Bacchetta said. “We are going to do our best and hope that it wakes up from its coma.”

The professor and his team first watered the soil to cool it down and then protected the trunk with jute tarps and the soil with straw. A nearby village gave a water tank for the tree, and a local plumber built an irrigation system that allows the soil to retain crucial
humidity.

Five South Florida cops die in a single week of COVID-19, is now the leading cause of cop deaths

Five South Florida cops die in a single week of COVID-19: report

The novel coronavirus has become a leading killer of police officers across the U.S., with five South Florida police officers succumbing to COVID-19 in a single week, according to several police departments.

Florida logged its 3 millionth case of COVID-19 over the weekend, the third state to do so. Only 15 countries worldwide have hit that number. While cases overall fell, deaths rose, USA Today said, citing the state’s department of health.

While Jacksonville is bearing the brunt of the high caseload, law enforcement officials in South Florida noted that five cops had died in a single week, as CNN reported.

Last week, City of Miami Police Chief Art Acevedo noted that four officers had died in the previous week. Two more have died since, according to CNN.

“Just this past weekend, I think we had at least around four officers in the greater South Florida area that have died from COVID,” Acevedo said after a promotion ceremony last Monday, according to WFOR-TV. “So I’m praying for them and their families and hope that some good will come out of those losses.”
