6 ft 6 guy with Olympic jacket stood out among the rioters. tossed his precious Olympic jacket after

**Lesson... don't try to blend in with rioters unless all the rioters are tall Olympians. seems he tossed that precious Olympic jacket that he was still wearing 13 years after Olympics. He will miss that jacket. or maybe it will remind him that he's now a felon.

Klete Keller, the five-time Olympic swimming medalist from USC, agreed to a plea bargain Wednesday after facing seven federal charges for participating in the U.S. Capitol riot.

During a hearing in U.S. District Court in Washington, Keller pleaded guilty to a felony count of obstruction of an official proceeding and will cooperate with prosecutors.

Keller, 39, stood out amid the chaos in the Capitol rotunda on Jan. 6, thanks to his 6-foot-6 height, beard and distinctive U.S. Olympic team jacket with “USA” written in large letters on the back.

In a statement of offense signed earlier this month, Keller admitted to “trying to obstruct, influence, and impede” Congress certifying the electoral college votes and, afterward, discarding the Team USA jacket.

Boise woman forced to go to Bay Area for medical care as COVID 'crisis' closes off Idaho hospitals

A Boise woman has, for weeks, been unable to receive treatment for her endometriosis, forcing her to travel all the way down to the Bay Area for care.

KTVB in Boise first reported that Chelsea Titus waited weeks for necessary surgery to remove her ovary, a surgery also known as oophorectomy, due to the state of Idaho's current "crisis standards of care" implemented less than two weeks ago.

When crisis standards of care, or CSC, are activated in the state as they are now, hospitals are only able to treat the most urgent of cases.

"The crisis in our healthcare system is being caused by the massive influx of COVID-19 patients who need hospitalization," reads an explainer on CSC from the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

"Surgeries are being postponed, emergency departments are full, and there may not be any beds for patients to be admitted to the hospital."

Australian Theme park getting backlash over installing weight stations at rides

**looks like you have to weigh under 400 pounds for one ride, 200 for another**

The machines require those who want to go on the rides to weigh themselves before entering the queue. The machine will indicate to park visitors if they can go on the ride by approving them with a green light or turning them away with a red light.

The machines also include signs that read “Please check to avoid disappointment.”

Images of the weighing scales and the attached signs have caused a widespread uproar on Australian Facebook with the Adventure World page being flooded with negative reviews and comments accusing the park of body shaming its patrons.

The park has since registered and attempted to clear up any confusion by stating that: “As long a rider’s safety restraint harness achieves the fully closed position and they meet the other safety requirements, then riders above 75kg can ride.”

Indigenous kids set to receive billions after judge rejects Trudeau challenges, 40K each

Indigenous children set to receive billions after judge rejects Trudeau challenges

A federal court in Canada has paved they way for billions in compensation to First Nations children who suffered discrimination in the welfare system, after a judge dismissed a pair of legal challenges by the government.

Two years ago, the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal ruled that the federal government had “wilfully and recklessly” discriminated against Indigenous children living on reserves by failing to properly fund child and family services.

The tribunal ruled the federal government was required to pay compensation worth C$40,000 to each child removed from his or her home – the maximum allowable under the country’s human rights act.

But instead of paying out the compensation, the prime minister Justin Trudeau said his government would appeal the ruling to “make sure we’re getting compensation right”.

Apartment building partially collapses, 7 injured: Dallas

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/apartment-building-partially-collapses-7-injured-officials/ar-AAOY3yS?ocid=msedgntp

A Dallas apartment building has partially collapsed after firefighters were called to investigate a carbon monoxide leak, according to officials.

When firefighters arrived at the South Dallas apartment building around 10:30 a.m. local time, they noticed an odor of gas around the building, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.

An explosion occurred while fire crews were investigating the scene, causing the two-story building to partially collapse, officials said.

The fire was producing flames and heavy smoke by 11 a.m., Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans told reporters in a news conference Wednesday afternoon. At least half of the building appeared to be badly damaged and piles of debris from the building could be seen strewn around the structure.

reviews of TV shows and movies now always full of "it's Woke" comments

most of the time the person doesn't describe what they mean by "woke" and why they object to it. when they do elaborate... it's too many Black characters, too many women in powerful roles, white characters portrayed negatively.

Just an observation. triggered by reading IMBD reviews of new NBC series "LA Brea"... "its woke" it wasn't that great, but I couldn't figure out what they mean by woke. one person elaborated.

La Brea is yet another example of wokeness gone horribly wrong (or right depending on your perspective). I watched the entire first episode and within the hour the show had: i) ensured that there was at least one of everything depicted - including many with intersectionalities, such as black w/ mental illness, white with disability, etc.; ii) painted the cops as "bad people" willing to steal rather than help others; iii) depicted the government as not to be trusted (which in many respects is a very Trump like sentiment); and so on.

another review defines "wokeness"

The actors in this series are good hardworking actors. As in so many segments of our society those who rightfully demanded equal rights have made accomplished a great deal. The problem is their "equal rights" marginalizes white men. And, the cliches are over-ripe. In Episode one the white cop is characterized not as a brave servant of the public, which most police are, but a greedy go-it-alone loner whose cynicism leads her to stash protein bars behind a tree. You don't gain 'diversity' by marginalizing shire leaders and by making the only cop evil. That's perpetuating a vicious lie.

woman continues to produce children with Josh Duggar

Josh Duggar leaves court with pregnant wife after failed attempt to get child porn charges dropped
Jessica Schladebeck 2 hrs ago

Josh Duggar was all smiles as he exited an Arkansas courtroom, his pregnant wife by his side, despite his latest failed attempt to dodge child porn charges.

The “19 Kids and Counting” star is accused of downloading child porn files onto a computer at his now-closed car dealership over the course of three days in May 2019. He was arrested in April on charges of receiving and possessing child sex abuse material and pleaded not guilty to both counts the following month.

---------------------

Despite the legal blow just months ahead of his trial, Duggar and his wife Anna, who is pregnant with their seventh child, showed a strong front before reporters gathered outside the courtroom. Video captured by 40/29 shows the couple hand in hand, both of them sporting grins as they leave the building.

A source previously told People that Anna, 33, is “standing by” Duggar.

“She thinks Josh is innocent,” the insider said in May.

The eldest child of the Duggar family, whose life was featured on the hit TLC series “19 Kids and Counting” between 2008 and 2015, was released on bail back in June. He’s allowed contact with his six children — Mackynzie Renée, 11, Michael James, 10, Marcus Anthony, 8, Meredith Grace, 6, Mason Garrett, 4, and Maryella Hope, who will turn 2 in November — so long as his wife is also present.

The Melting Face Emoji Has Already Won Us Over
Of the 37 new emojis approved this year, one has stood out as a visual proxy for our collective malaise.

These new emojis will roll out over the course of the next year. But already the melting face has found fans on social media, who see it as a clear representation of the coronavirus pandemic’s vast psychological toll.

“This melting smiley face is quite the pandemic mood,” one Twitter user said.

Others viewed the new emoji as a visual proxy for climate anxiety. “Something tells me that in this climate change apocalypse era, we’re going to be using the new melting face emoji a lot,” another user wrote.

The melting face was conceived back in 2019 by Jennifer Daniel and Neil Cohn, who connected over their mutual appreciation for visual language. Ms. Daniel, who uses the pronouns they and them, is an emoji subcommittee chair for Unicode and a creative director at Google; Mr. Cohn, an associate professor of cognition and communication at Tilburg University.

California outlawed the all-white-male boardroom. That move is reshaping corporate America

The state’s requirements that publicly traded corporations diversify their boardrooms were ridiculed as quixotic by conservative columnists and some corporate chieftains. The courts are still threatening to erase the quotas, the first of which were signed into law in 2018.

But California is having the last laugh. Even as the mandates on women and people of color have become a flashpoint in the culture wars, companies across the country are embracing California’s boardroom diversity directives. Women now control more than a quarter of corporate board seats nationwide — 50% more than they did before the 2018 California law requiring women on boards was passed. Companies are also scrambling to recruit people of color as other diversity mandates begin to take effect.

The state’s crusade is reshaping the corporate boardroom, an institution that for decades refused to evolve — and which guides the direction, culture and financial stewardship of public companies. Even as the courts signal the new rules could collapse legally, the requirements that every public company headquartered in the state have women and members of traditionally underrepresented groups on its board are driving hundreds of companies to make room at the top — and inspiring other states and federal regulators to join California’s push.

“The ripple effect has gone across the nation,” said Betsy Berkhemer-Credaire, chief executive of the Los Angeles-based advocacy group 50/50 Women on Boards. She predicts that within a decade, “it will be quite an anachronism to remember when corporations had all-white-male boards.”

the woman didn't believe this uniform was real so she slapped the man wearing it. arrested

A viral video capturing the scene opens with the woman throwing Sean Notle Jr.'s Navy cover to the ground, calling it 'disgusting' as she slaps the US service member in the face inside the lobby of Central Pizza, in Berlin, Connecticut.

Notle Jr. - who was still in his military camouflage after stepping out for lunch from the Naval Submarine School, in nearby Groton - kept a cool head as his friend video taped the incident.

'Show his uniform,' the woman continued to yell.

Despite showing her his military ID, the woman did not believe the Nolte Jr. was in the Navy.

After she left the pizzeria several times, Nolte Jr. said the woman returned and started yelling at the staff that she knows Nolte is 'a fake' because her husband is in the Army.

Notle Jr. said he tried his best to keep the situation calm and even told the woman to thank her husband on his behalf for his service.

Jason Bikakis, the owner of Central Pizza, told News 8 he was shocked by what he saw.

'I have never seen something like that,' he said.

Bikakia said he witnessed the woman slap the sailor.

'Slap him, yes, in the face like she knows him for a long time,' Bikakis said.
