FBI is investigating the arrest of a Black man in which 3 white officers let a police dog repeatedly

FBI is investigating the arrest of a Black man in which 3 white officers let a police dog repeatedly bite him

---------

The moment was captured on video by a bystander, and police later confirmed in a statement that the dog had repeatedly bitten the man.

The video shows the man being arrested on September 20, with police officers leaning him over a car while another officer stands with a dog.

The officer then lets the dog go toward the man, and the dog bites him as the man grabs his ankles and says "help." The officers do not intervene

The officers then push the man to the ground, and the dog pulls his leg. The officers pull the dog back, and then releasing it again, before eventually removing the dog from the man.

The City of Woodson Terrace Police Department said in a statement after the arrest that the man was under the influence of "a narcotic," and that he resisted arrest and threatened officers.

The video does not appear to show the man resisting arrest.

Life expectancy of American men fell by two years amid pandemic: study

The life expectancy of American men decreased by two years during the pandemic, according to a new study published Monday by Oxford University.

The study found that life expectancy among men fell by 2.2 years relative to 2019, the largest drop among the groups that were observed, according to Reuters.

Life expectancy decreased by more than six months compared to 2019 for 22 of the 29 countries examined as part of the study, according to Reuters, which includes the U.S., Chile and nations in Europe.

The drop in life expectancy in 2020 was the largest observed since World War II, and fell overall in 27 of the 29 countries analyzed, according to Reuters.

The university said the majority of the life expectancy decreases can be attributed to COVID-19, which has caused more than 4.7 million deaths since the onset of the pandemic, according to the World Health Organization.

Condition improving for 6 critically wounded in Tennessee shooting (story that dropped like a stone)

Condition improving for six critically wounded in Tennessee shooting

Of the six people who were critically wounded in a shooting at a Tennessee supermarket on Thursday, five are now in good condition and another remains in serious condition but is improving.

Angie Golding, a spokeswoman for Regional One Health in Memphis, told news outlets on Sunday that the six individuals who were wounded are no longer in critical condition, The Associated Press reported.

A gunman opened fire at a Kroger in Collierville, Tenn. on Thursday, killing one person and himself and injuring 14 others. Collierville is located roughly 30 miles east of Memphis.

Ten of the victims in the shooting were Kroger employees and five were customers who were in the store at the time.

Michigan doctor said 6 out of 8 patients who questioned his medical advice on COVID-19 have died

A Michigan pulmonologist recounted interactions with eight patients who were severely suffering from COVID-19 while they ignored the reality of the virus in a Facebook post.

On Friday, Dr. Matthew Trunsky, the director of the palliative care unit at a Beaumont Health network hospital in Troy, Michigan, told The Washington Post six of those eight patients have since died.

In his September 11 Facebook post, Trunsky said some of the patients denied having the virus, requested unproven and unapproved treatments like ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine, or even said: "I'd rather die than take the vaccine."

In my last two days of work I have heard the following:
1) “you’re wrong doctor. I’m too healthy. I don’t have Covid. I’m fine.” (In reality, he’s fighting for his life).
2) “I demand ivermectin or you’ll hear from my lawyer.”
3) “I demand hydroxychloroquine.”
4) “I don’t care what you say. I’m going to leave.”...

Iceland nearly elects Europe's first female-majority parliament.. lands on 48%

REYKJAVIK, Iceland — Iceland briefly celebrated electing a female-majority parliament Sunday, before a recount produced a result just short of that landmark for gender parity in the North Atlantic island nation.

The initial vote count had female candidates winning 33 seats in Iceland’s 63-seat parliament, the Althing, in an election that saw centrist parties make the biggest gains.

Hours later, a recount in western Iceland changed the outcome, leaving female candidates with 30 seats, a tally previously reached at Iceland’s second-most recent election, in 2016. Still, at almost 48% of the total, that is the highest percentage for female lawmakers in Europe.

Only a handful of countries, none of them in Europe, have a majority of female lawmakers. According to the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Rwanda leads the world with women making up 61% of its Chamber of Deputies, with Cuba, Nicaragua and Mexico on or just over the 50% mark. Worldwide, the organization says just over a quarter of legislators are women.

GOP congressmen reap millions in federal loans for personal car dealerships

According to a Sludge report, at least 28 members of Congress (or their spouses) benefited from some $27 million in small business loans. Some of these members include Reps. Dean Phillips, D-Minn., Kevin Hern, R-Okla., Greg Pence, R-Ind., and Carol Miller, R-W.Va.

One of these lawmakers, Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Pa., received federal loans ranging between $150,000 and $350,000 for his various car dealerships, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. Kelly, who voted "no" on the TRUTH Act – which would have required the SBA to disclose all of the PPP's recipients in addition to their loan amounts – is tied to four businesses that benefited from the program, including Mike Kelly Automotive Group Inc., Mike Kelly Automotive LP, Mike Kelly Hyundai Inc., and Kelly Chevrolet Cadillac.

A spokesperson for his office told the Inquirer that Kelly is "not involved in the day-to-day operations of his auto dealerships and was not part of the discussions between the business and the PPP lender." However, The Post Gazette found last July that he was still named as the president of Mike Kelly Hyundai, Mike Kelly Automotive, and Kelly Chevrolet Cadillac on one of his recent House financial disclosures, with his wife reporting a salary from Kelly Chevrolet Cadillac.

Kelly is the 39th wealthiest member of Congress, according to a 2018 analysis by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, with a net worth of $12.4 million.

Other lawmakers who benefited from the PPP program include Reps. Roger Williams, R-Tex., and Vern Buchanan, R-Fla.

According to Sludge, Williams, who boasts a net worth of $27.7 million, took in over $1.4 million for his JRW Corporation, valued $50 million back in 2019. The conservative legislator also reaped federal aid for his Roger Williams Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership in North Texas.

Texas for-profit school operator took $72M in veterans' GI Bill cash and bought mansion, Lamborghini

The owner of a fly-by-night Texas trade school has been sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison for taking $72 million in GI Bill cash to give veterans HVAC training but leaving them lacking even basic skills.

Prosecutors say Jonathan Dean Davis, 43, charged up to $21,000 for a six-week program at his Retail Ready Career Center near Dallas, draining their GI Bill benefits but giving them little marketable training in heating and air conditioning repair.

When veterans would try to find work after completing the program, they would discover they were woefully underprepared for even entry-level technician jobs, prosecutors said.

Veterans said they were ‘bamboozled’
Several veterans testified at Davis’ trial that they felt “used,” “taken advantage of,” “deceived,” and “bamboozled,” after discovering that much of the post-military education benefits had been used up through the school.

Prosecutors say that in all, Davis billed the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs $72 million to train veterans, big chunks of which he used to buy a $2.2 million mansion in Dallas, a $428,000 Lamborghini, a $280,000 Ferrari, and a $260,000 Bentley.

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The owner of a for-profit trade school was sentenced to more than 19 years in federal prison for bilking the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs of $72 million and of misleading student veterans.

------------

These agencies required applicants to certify that they were not personally facing any criminal or civil actions, and to prove that their schools were established educational institutions in stable financial condition. Knowing he could not meet these requirements, Davis repeatedly lied and concealed information from these agencies.

“Several decisions lie ahead that will ultimately make the difference if I succeed or if I fail. More gut-wrenching conversations, more humiliating experiences, more lying is in order,” Davis wrote in an electronic journal he kept on his computer, which was recovered by federal agents during a search of Retail Ready. The journal became a key piece of evidence at trial.

Davis assured the TWC that he was not subject to any civil actions, when, in fact, he was facing numerous civil judgments over unpaid debts. He also told the TWC that he was not facing any criminal charges, when, in fact, he had a pending felony charge for theft of services.

Davis told the TVC that Retail Ready had been operating as a school for two years, when, in fact, the company had only existed for a few months and had never trained any students. He claimed that Retail Ready was fully prepared to train veterans, when, in fact, the company lacked a building and basic supplies. He even lied to an independent accountant about the school’s financial condition, and then submitted false financial statements to both the TWC and the TVC.

6ft 315 pound teacher pushes 4 year old

A teacher at an Ohio day care center has been charged with assault after he was caught on camera shoving a four-year-old student to the ground.

James Ciolino, an educator at the Wilde Kingdom Early Learning Center in Fairfield, Ohio, aggressively pushed the little girl during a class conducted on June 21.

Video of the incident was published by LOCAL 12 earlier this week in light of the assault charge being filed.

The disturbing clip, captured by a classroom surveillance camera, shows the unnamed girl being brought into Ciolino's classroom by another employee, identified as Jennifer Miller.

Ciolino, who is reportedly 6-feet tall and about 315 pounds, then suddenly shoves the victim, immediately sending her to the floor.

'Get out of here,' Ciolino is heard telling her before he goes back to an activity with other students in his class.
