AOC responds to the accusation she threatened primaries

Again, didn’t threaten a primary.

I was upset that 26 Dems forced the other 200+ to vote for a pro-ICE provision at the last min without warning.

Because I think an agency that pins children down + forcibly injects them w/ antipsychotic drugs shouldn’t be given more power.

https://twitter.com/AOC/status/1101831550126170113

Remainder of thread:

“At [DHS immigrant detention] facility, children recounted being held down for forcible injections, which medical records show are powerful antipsychotics and sedatives.”

What I DID say was that I had to go back to my district & share the MTR vote to explain why a pro-ICE amendment was slipped into a gun safety law.

Maybe they’re mad bc I don’t believe pro-ICE expansion votes should be cast in the dark, and people deserve to know what happened.

#MomsDemand & #MarchForOurLives activists, who flew in from across the country, were watching from the gallery, crying + confused.

I ran up to them *during the vote* and explained that the gotcha amendment pinned gun safety against immigration advocacy. Its intent was to divide.

If you’re mad that I think people SHOULD KNOW when Dems vote to expand ICE powers, then be mad.

ICE is a dangerous agency with 0 accountability, widespread reporting of rape, abuse of power, + children dying in DHS custody.

Having a D next to your name doesn’t make that right.

Mind you, the same small splinter group of Dems that tried to deny Pelosi the speakership, fund the wall during the shutdown when the public didn’t want it, & are now voting in surprise ICE amendments to gun safety legislation are being called the “moderate wing” of the party.

We can have ideological differences and that’s fine. But these tactics allow a small group to force the other 200+ members into actions that the majority disagree with. I don’t think that’s right, and said as much in a closed door meeting.

Judge Amy Jackson upset at Roger Stone about a book coming out! LOL

Despite being under a court-imposed gag order, Roger Stone apparently has a new book coming out. Awesome! And the judge in his case ain’t happy.

A new order from U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson asks Stone to explain why this wasn’t brought to her attention previously, and admonishes his lawyer over his previous reassurances to the court.

How many times has Trump asked you to threaten someone?

Jackie Speier: How many times did Mr. Trump ask you to threaten an individual or entity on his behalf?
Cohen: Quite a few times.
Speier: 50 times?
Cohen: More.
Speier: 100 times?
Cohen: More.
Speier: 200 times?
Cohen: More.
Speier: 500 times?
Cohen: Probably, over the 10 years.

I recommend watching the Alva Johnson interview on Chris Hayes (link inside)

This evening Chris Hayes interviewed Trump accuser Alva Johnson, who says Trump forcibly kissed her. It was a good interview and she was very believable. She did cry a bit. If you can find it, I'd recommend watching.

She talked about why she joined the campaign, the incident itself, why it has taken her a while to come out publicly and how she has reacted to Trump's Presidency.

EDIT:
The show has posted a brief clip:

EDIT2: I believe this is the full interview

Mueller did file his Manafort sentencing memo. It is under seal.

JUST IN: Mueller's office did on Friday request to file its sentencing memo under seal in Manafort's case. Judge Amy Berman Jackson has granted that request and ordered Mueller's office to file a redacted version on the public docket.

https://twitter.com/chrisgeidner/status/1099363314453364737

EDIT:

The order shows the redacted versions already exist and were submitted, so I'm not sure there's a reason why it would need to wait 'til Monday.

Give Mueller some credit. He's not being forced to end the investigation.

OK. *deep breaths people*

Assuming CNN's story is correct about Mueller's report coming next week, then IMHO we can rest assured it is because Mueller is ready. The Special Counsel is by law independent. The AG cannot end his investigation. About the only thing the AG can do is fire the Special Counsel with cause, and that is clearly not what is happening.

It makes no sense to me whatsoever that Mueller could be done. Perhaps the report is so bad he feels he needs to get the info to the (now) Democratic House of Representatives?

In any case, give Mueller some credit. If Barr tried something funny then I'm convinced Mueller would start investigating Barr!

Personally I think CNN is wrong and the investigation will continue. Stay tuned I guess!

New: Mueller questions Cambridge Analytica director Brittany Kaiser

Sun 17 Feb 2019 04.00 EST
Second former employee of controversial data firm to be questioned by special counsel’s inquiry into Russia collusion

A director of the controversial data company Cambridge Analytica, who appeared with Arron Banks at the launch of the Leave.EU campaign, has been subpoenaed by the US investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.

A spokesman for Brittany Kaiser, former business development director for Cambridge Analytica – which collapsed after the Observer revealed details of its misuse of Facebook data – confirmed that she had been subpoenaed by special counsel Robert Mueller, and was cooperating fully with his investigation.

He added that she was assisting other US congressional and legal investigations into the company’s activities and had voluntarily turned over documents and data.

EDIT: Adding a bit more from the article:

One part of Mueller’s investigation focuses on whether the Trump campaign sought to influence the timing of the release of emails by WikiLeaks before the election. Investigators are looking at communications between them. ...Kaiser says that she has gone from being a cooperating witness to a subject of investigation because of her contact with Assange.

Nadler threatens to depose Whitaker!

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler threatened to depose acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker in a letter Wednesday, calling his testimony "unsatisfactory" or "contradicted by other evidence."

The New York Democrat, in his letter released Wednesday evening, told CNN earlier Wednesday that Whitaker "may have" misled the committee in testimony last week.

"Although the committee appreciates your decision to appear, members on both sides of the aisle found many of your answers to be unsatisfactory, incomplete or contradicted by other evidence," Nadler's letter read. "You repeatedly refused to offer clear responses regarding your communications with the White House, and you were inconsistent in your application of the Department's policy related to the discussion of ongoing investigations."
