If DeJoy doesn't show next Monday,
or begins to stonewall with refusals to answer questions, the House needs to have a SUBPOENA ready to serve him with -- right then and there -- compelling his cooperation, in person, THE NEXT DAY!!
The House needs to let this be known ahead of time, and they need to invoke their right to use sanctions available under inherent contempt rules!!
We are in a STATE OF EMERGENCY with regard to the survival of our right to vote, in a free and fair election, AND TO HAVE OUR VOTE COUNTED!!!
The House needs to pass "inherent contempt" rules NOW!
-- They need to issue subpoenas REQUIRING almost-immediate appearance / submission of documents.
---- Monetary fines, doubling by the day for non-compliance.
---- The Sergeant-at-Arms taking non-compliant folks into custody immediately upon non-compliance.
Our Democracy is under siege.
We cannot afford the luxury of timidity in the face of any of the assaults we're presently enduring.
Turning in a completed absentee/mail-in ballot is NOT the problem as the USPS is destroyed.
Sure, mailing it in, in time for it to be counted, might prove problematic -- but there may be other options for submitting it.
The real problem with the destruction of the US Postal Service is NOT RECEIVING THE BALLOT IN THE MAIL (in a timely fashion) in the first place!!!
Real patriots need incessantly to demand that Congress prevent this assault on our fragile democracy from succeeding.
