Why women are skeptical of male media pundits, including liberal ones.

Yes, we understand that there are many good men out there, and many of these good men are our strongest allies.

But there are far too many male media pundits who still fall for the most ridiculous stereotypes of women.

Many of our supposed male media allies fall into this group.

Guys, we aren't liars, or manipulators anymore than your gender is. In fact, I would suggest that women are less so, than men. We have to be, just in order to fit in and survive.

Also, we aren't out to get men, nor do we hate them, though we do get sick and tired of men holding us to a different standard than they do for the guys. i.e. see the 2016 election

Finally, yes, I do not speak for all women. Some women, for whatever reason are perfectly content with this disparity.

Why women are dominating Democratic primaries

Their success has intrigued Democratic pollsters, who say the data offer no singular explanations for this phenomenon. Instead, leading pollsters describe multiple factors boosting women this year, ranging from sweeping cultural forces to a subtle feeling among liberal-leaning voters that women are more progressive. The wins are also tied to President Donald Trump, they say, but not just because of his personal behavior.

“I’m highly skeptical that there’s one theory or a dynamic that explains this voting trend,” said Matt Canter, a Democratic strategist and former deputy executive director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. “It’s a confluence of a number of important factors, most importantly that these women who are winning are great candidates.”

The focus on health care is apparent in most primaries, where candidates have made the topic a regular part of their stump speech or TV and digital ads. And when they aren’t talking about health care, they’re often emphasizing the importance of education — another issue that McCrary said inherently favors women.

Pollsters say their primary voters are angered not just Trump, but the Republican voters who continue to support him despite the accusations of harassment and assault.

“You have a huge dynamic in American politics where behavior you and I could never have imagined before is sort of accepted by a huge portion of the electorate,” Canter said. “That is obviously going to affect voting patterns.”

All of the pollsters agreed that primary voters aren’t simply seeing a woman on the ballot and deciding to vote for her; instead, gender is serving as a tie-breaker for voters when everything seems equal. And even a small advantage can be crucial in primary elections, where candidates have limited name recognition and little money to communicate to voters (especially those running in expensive media markets).

Good read. It was difficult to select just a few excerpts. The whole article is worth reading.

Demand that Kevin McCarthy needs to call out Trump right now

for Trump's tweet threat against Maxine Waters.

McCarthy had a fit over Maxine's comments, he should have even more ire over Trump's.

I want the media to call him out on this, too.

F*ck this double standard.

Democrats Propose Overtime Pay For Farmworkers To Rectify Racial Injustice

Democratic senators say it’s time to finally give U.S. farmworkers the full labor protections they’ve been excluded from since 1938.

Led by Sen. Kamala Harris of California, lawmakers plan to introduce a bill Monday that would extend overtime rights to all agricultural workers, and grant many of those same workers new minimum wage rights as well. The legislation would do so by amending the Fair Labor Standards Act, the bedrock law, passed 80 years ago Monday, that established a federal wage floor and time-and-a-half pay for extra work.

Farmworkers, as well as domestic help, were largely carved out of those seminal protections; the political coalition enacting the New Deal included Southern Democrats who wanted to keep farm labor ― most of it done by African-Americans ― as cheap as possible. Many of the original exclusions persist today and still disproportionately affect people of color, particularly Latino field workers.

In a statement, Harris noted that such workers toil for long shifts in the heat ― often 12 hours a day during harvest season ― and deserve the same safeguards as others.

“This bill will attempt to correct some of the injustices they face and guarantee they will get paid for the hours they work including overtime, and minimum wage which right now they are not entitled to by law,” she said. “This is a matter of basic fairness and justice.”

President Obama fishes in the Adirondacks

Fishermen are known for their whoppers. But the one Vince Wilcox tells is no fish story.

On Thursday and Friday, he guided former President Barack Obama and five of his friends on a fly fishing excursion in the Adirondacks.

"The president has only done it one other time in 2009 in Montana," Wilcox, owner of Wiley's Flies in Ray Brook, said. "Apparently, when you are the president, you don't have a lot of time. But he did great. He's a natural athlete."

Wilcox could not say how many Obama caught or where he hooked them, but he did say the 44th president honored the tradition of catch and release for the brook trout with a single exception.

"He never ate one," Wilcox said. "He wanted to know what it tasted like."

Races to watch in Tuesday's primaries

Voters in six states — Colorado, Maryland, New York, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Utah — head to the polls Tuesday to pick nominees in critical races ahead of November’s midterm elections.

Leading contenders include two African American candidates fighting to become Maryland’s next governor, the first openly gay man with a strong shot at a governorship and a former presidential nominee who’s likely to claim a seat in the U.S. Senate.

How Stephen Miller, the architect behind Trump's immigration policies, rose to power

Washington (CNN) — Nearly ever present by the President's side, perhaps no one is more responsible for the Trump agenda than Stephen Miller.

President Donald Trump on Thursday signed an executive order aimed at keeping families together at the border, but not before several days of public outcry over the administration's "zero-tolerance" immigration policy that had resulted in thousands of undocumented children separated from their families at the border.

Some of the Trump administration's most controversial and chaos-inducing policies can be traced back to Miller, including the travel ban and the firing of former FBI director James Comey.

And the latest immigration debacle is no different.
