Autopsy Confirms Teen Killed On Florida Ride Exceeded Weight Limit

A 14-year-old boy who fell from a 430-foot amusement park ride in Florida earlier this year was 96 pounds over the ride’s recommended weight limit and died from blunt force trauma, according to an autopsy report.

Tyre Sampson was 6-foot-2 and weighed 383 pounds when he fell to his death while riding the FreeFall drop-tower ride in Orlando on March 24, according to the Orange County Medical Examiner’s report released Monday.

The ride, which towered higher than the Statue of Liberty, had a recommended maximum weight of 287 pounds, according to a ride manual previously released by the state’s Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, though there have been questions as to whether this weight limit was publicly posted.

The middle schooler’s manner of death was ruled accidental. He sustained blunt force injuries to the head and neck and blunt force injuries of the torso, including internal lacerations to his spleen, stomach and liver, according to the medical examiner’s report obtained by HuffPost.

We probably don't need to tell you who Deadbeat is. (He even did a previous RA Podcast for us, all the way back in 2007.) But if you need a refresher, he's one of the most important and revered artists in dub techno. The Canadian artist came up in the Montreal scene alongside other trailblazers like Akufen and other Canadians (think Cobblestone Jazz, Mathew Jonson, Wagon Repair, etc). His early records for ~scape are some of the most classic and influential minimal there ever was, but dub is always at the heart of his work, and runs in the veins of BLKRTZ, the prolific label he runs himself.

Sa Pa, on the other hand, sits somewhere in the ambient zone. Originally from Adelaide, he's found a powerful creative sparring partner in Deadbeat. The two released their first album together, The Mountain, earlier this year. It's the 50th release on BLKRTZ and maybe one of the most monumental records in either artist's catalogue, a triple-LP that harks back to the hypnotic, plink-plonk days of yore with the strong cross-genre underpinning that marks Deadbeat's work these days, and plenty of lovely atmospheric wiggles.

The duo's lengthy RA Podcast, taken from two different recordings at their Absurd Dub Lustre party in Berlin, mirrors the LP's sound, weaving through tracks new and old. It's full of warm, dubby vibrations and smooth transitions.

Sorry, but no. I am in a completely different situ than most here anyway.

We (wifey and I):

Live in Sweden (almost no one masks here, no new surge, only surge in close to a year was the original Omicron in Dec/January)

We are both:

Young (25yo)

Very healthy and extremely physically active

We both have had

5 rounds (total of 6 jabs) of clinical trial investigational variant tweeted vaccines, the last one (actually last 2 jabs, as it was a 2-fer), as on May 23rd we got the brand, brand new (they can now spin up up subvariant tweaks in around 2 weeks with these new short analogue vax types) Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 tweaked stick, mRNA-1283.529.4.5 (you can tell Gen 2 short analogue Moderna jabs by the 1283 number, instead of 1273) short analogue (lasts longer, normal storage temps needed, and smaller doses), lower dose (15 or 30 µg, we were given 30 µg) Moderna jab.

We also (first time ever) were given a Pfizer jab (30 µg as well) as we are in the max dosage possible experiment arm cohort of the trials, and thus eligible for the new same day, cross brand double up protocol.

The first 4 Moderna jabs were all 1273, gen one, variant tweaked. The first 2 jabs were mRNA-1273.351 for Beta (aka the South African variant), then the first booster was mRNA-1273.617 for Delta (only stick that gave us bad side effects, nightmarish, but gone in 36 hours), then the 2nd booster, mRNA-1273.529 for Omicron, were all at 100 µg dosages.

So..... Nope, not masking, only if some crazy new variant comes along.

Respect to all who have never stopped masking, but we just are not going to roll like that atm, and have not for ages (well over a year now, other than a brief time when OG strain Omicron hit).

Demonstrators gathered outside Brook House Immigration Removal Center on Saturday, protesting a plan to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda.

LONDON — The British government planned to proceed on Tuesday with flying immigrants to Rwanda for processing and resettlement, after a court blocked two appeals to the contentious plan on Monday, according to Care4Calais, one of the aid groups involved in the appeal.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s government announced in April that it would send some asylum seekers to Rwanda for an initial payment of 120 million pounds, or about $157 million.

The ruling Monday, which was decided by a three-judge panel on the appeals court, came after the High Court failed to pass an injunction against the proposed plan last week.

Designed by the Swiss architect Edward Schoolheifer for the Lyon Group in 1964, this immaculate three-bedroom, end-of-terrace house forms part of the much-admired Manygate Lane Estate in Shepperton, Surrey. Contemporary additions such as the kitchen and bathroom are thoughtfully considered and complement carefully preserved mid-century features. Set in verdant communal gardens, the house comes with a private garage on the estate and has two separate walled gardens.





The Estate

The visionary Manygate Lane Estate was designated a conservation area in 2002 in recognition of Schoolheifer’s contribution to the modernist movement in Britain. The houses are arranged around formal courtyards lined with pedestrian walkways. Their stark simplicity and sleek panelled façades set against manicured gardens and the white-painted, wood-clad first floor floating above a bank of aluminium-framed windows on the level below. What was at the time a radical use of extensive glazing encourages a wonderful connection between the ground floor spaces and the private front and rear gardens.





The estate has both residents and guest car parks connected to the house via the footpaths that wind through the gardens. Like many mid-century estates, Manygate Lane was designed to be car-free and, as such, has a prevailing sense of calm throughout and a wealth of areas for children to play safely. US to end Covid testing requirement for travellers from Europe

Authorities in the USA have announced the end of the Covid-testing requirement for arrivals from Europe, meaning that fully vaccinated people will soon be able to travel between Europe and the US without needing pre-travel tests.

Most of Europe had dropped the testing requirement for fully-vaccinated arrivals in the spring, but the US has maintained the requirement to show proof of a negative test for all arrivals. However on Friday, the Biden administration announced that it would not renew the testing requirement.

The new rule is expected to come into effect at 12.01 Sunday EDT, until then passengers will still need to show a negative Covid test before they can board a plane to the US. The US currently bars unvaccinated travellers from entry – although this does not apply to US citizens, US residents or those travelling for essential reasons – there was no announcement on lifting this restriction.

The CDC said that testing requirements could be reinstated if new variants of Covid emerge, and added that it continues to recommend pre-travel testing. Covid travel rules vary between individual countries in Europe, but most countries now only require pre-departure tests for unvaccinated travellers. Check the rules of the country you are travelling to for full details.

To be counted as ‘fully vaccinated’ travellers must have received both doses of an EMA-approved vaccine – Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca (or a single dose of Janssen). If their vaccination was more than nine months ago, they need a booster shot in order to be considered fully vaccinated – people who have had a booster do not need a second, even if their booster shot was more than nine months ago.
