I’m loving the shit storm that is raining down on Trump right now. But I also don’t underestimate the media in completely over blowing anything Joe Biden might say that could be seen as a “gaffe”. So as long as Joe Biden can stay on script between now and the election I think we’re in good shape.
I’ve always felt the “gaffe” label for Joe Biden was a bit overdone. Now if Joe says anything slightly awkward the press jumps on it. Things if said by anyone else wouldn’t even make the news.
Joe seems to get in trouble when speaking off the cuff, so I hope he’s being advised to keep things real but don’t go too far off script.
Regarding blaming Woodward--a reminder of how things were back then
2/3: the WHO chief stated that “there was no need for measures that unnecessarily interfere with international travel and trade”
2/29: US cases around 15. Surgeon General tells Americans masks aren’t necessary.
3/8: Fauci in an interview with CBS said there is no need for people to wear masks
With even the experts downplaying the virus, no one would have listened to the tape if Woodward had played it back then. Trump could have easily spun it to something like “That was simply a theory going around at the time. We’ve since learned more and it’s not as dangerous as we thought.” And the numbers for deaths in young people—BACK THEN—would have backed him up. The number of deaths in the US—AT THAT TIME—would have backed him up. The story would have fizzled.
The New York Times had several articles in Feb and even January that mentioned official information, not given to the public, stating the the virus more dangerous than the Trump administration was saying, no one listened. One could say “well, if Woodward had released the tape maybe they would have. It would have corroborated NY Times.”
No, they wouldn’t have. Not with our experts downplaying it. Not with the small number of cases and deaths at that time. I remember what it was like back then. No one would have listened.

Obesity and COVID outcomes
A Washington Post article today about Obesity being one of the clearest predictors of having complications from COVID-19:
“Eight months into the pandemic, obesity has turned out to be one of the clearest predictors of a difficult battle against covid-19, for reasons that may vary from person to person.”
I’ve always wondered if the high obesity rates in the US were contributing to our high death rate. When you see the rare death of a very young person who died of COVID, they are often morbidly obese. I’m not into “fat shaming” as there are many reasons people struggle with their weight in the US and I personally believe none of them are due to being slobs or “lazy”. We need to make it easier and CHEAPER to eat healthy. Make access to gyms and nutritionists part of our national healthcare. It will save us a ton of $$$ in healthcare costs as well as save lives.

Lifelong Republican friend brought to tears by Obama and Kamala speech
Said she felt hope for the first time in a long time. People across America are desperate for some hope right now and sick and tired of fear. I love how the DNC speakers are all about going out and fighting together, and giving the sense that we CAN.

I cannot STAND Chris Cillizza. I saw the headline but couldn’t give two sh*ts what Chris Cillizza thinks about anything, let al one his “take” in the DNC. Is it just me? I think he’s a blowhard who doesn’t write out his actual opinion, but what he thinks will look like a cool opinion to have.

I watched Anderson Cooper’s interview with Mr. Pillow Guy (Mike Liddell), as much as I could stand of it anyway, and in-between my speechlessness at just how jaw dropping-ly slimy and corrupt Mike Liddell was I also had a niggling image in my mind of someone Mike Liddell reminded me of. This is from something that happened in 2017 but seems to have re-emerged since I saw it appear recently (I was unaware of this video until today). Normally I wouldn’t condone violence but if anyone had it coming, this woman did. Seeing how Trump has emboldened racists to come out of the woodwork, openly PROUD of their racism, made this video all the more satisfying.
Back story is this white racist woman (Summer Cortts) was making racists complaints to hotel staff about some Haitian hotel guests (youth soccer team). Another hotel guest, Colleen Dagg, overhears and confronts the woman in a calm manner. Cortts goes ballistic and starts harassing and following Dagg around the hotel, screaming obscenities and threatening to beat her up. Video starts when Cortts threatens to shoot Dagg in the face and then lunges at her, putting her hands on Dagg neck. Wrong move...
(Apologize if some find this “distasteful”, I find the violence hurled against minorities far more distasteful)
