Jill Stein still paying her workers with recount money

Remember when Jill Stein let you to believe she thought there was voting machine fraud?
One of these guys makes $90000 a year for "half time" work. And it's recount money.

NY Democratic committee to consider ban on 'fusion voting'

Source: Newsday

The state Democratic Party Committee will convene Monday in Westchester County in part to consider a ban on fusion voting — the practice, rarely used in other states, which allows candidates to appear on multiple ballot lines under the endorsement of multiple parties.

Jay Jacobs, the incoming state party chairman and current Nassau County Democratic chairman, backs the ban and believes it has a chance of passing the committee. But the bigger question is whether state legislators will be spurred by the vote and actually approve a law to prohibit fusion voting.

As deployed in New York, fusion voting typically means minor parties endorsing a major-party candidate. Think about the Working Families Party endorsing Democrat Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo last year and the Conservative Party backing Republican Marc Molinaro.

I switched back to Kamala

When I first entered this forum, My initial pick as preferred candidate was Kamala Harris.

then, I was impressed by Bernie Sanders' position in Venezuela. Like him, I oppose intervention.
Plus Bernie has been respectful to other Democrats so far.
But today I had an epiphany.

A couple of weeks ago, Bernie stated that he's leaning toward picking a female as his VP nominee in the event that he wins the Democratic primaries.

I thought. Ok. That is great. Kamala is young. She could soften the view of Bernie as attracting too many white folks. Good.

But today I thought. Holy shit! Bernie is gonna choose Tulsi Gabbard as the second in command to a man who is nearly 80!
Yes, Kamala is young. But Tulsi is younger.
Kamala is non-white. So is Tulsi.
Kamala didn't endorse Bernie in 2016. Tulsi did.

And guess who is attending events together?

Under no circumstances will I vote for anyone who may give Tulsi Gabbard the position of VP nominee.
My best hope is that he will pick Warren (which I doubt because he may want someone younger).

But since I'm not 100% sure, I will play it safe.

Saudi Arabia Is Said to Have Tortured an American Citizen

Source: New York Times

A dual citizen of Saudi Arabia and the United States had been imprisoned in the Ritz Carlton in Riyadh for about a week when he heard a knock on his door.

Guards dragged Walid Fitaihi, a Harvard-trained physician, to another room, according to a friend who took down the prisoner’s detailed account of his treatment. Dr. Fitaihi told the friend he was slapped, blindfolded, stripped to his underwear and bound to a chair. He was shocked with electricity in what appears to have been a single session of torture that lasted about an hour.

His tormentors whipped his back so severely that he could not sleep on it for days, his friend said, speaking on condition of anonymity to avoid reprisals. The doctor had described the physical abuse, in general terms, to his relatives as well, a person close to them said.

Centrist Democrats push back against party's liberal surge

Source: Washington Post

At a closed-door meeting of House Democrats on Thursday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said some of her colleagues could find themselves “on a list” of primary election targets, after they voted for a Republican amendment requiring that undocumented immigrants who try to buy guns be reported to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to people in the room who were not authorized to comment publicly.

Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.), a co-chairman of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, said he has confronted party leaders about such threats, which have also come from the Justice Democrats, a liberal group that backed Ocasio-Cortez’s primary campaign.

“Being unified means ensuring that Democrats aren’t primary-ing other sitting Democrats,” Gottheimer said. “Since when is it okay to put you on a Nixonian list? We need to have a big tent in our party or we won’t keep the House or win the White House.”

Some warned that imposing purity tests could lead to a Democratic version of the conservative tea party revolt that transformed the GOP in recent years. That surge has brought Republicans new energy and new voters, but it’s also cost the GOP some congressional races and legislative victories.

A statistic about moderate Democrats that you will not believe

After reading this statistic about the 2018 midterms, I realize that I underestimated the strength of moderate Democrats in our party:

Thirty-three of the 40 GOP seats that Democrats picked up were won by candidates who had been endorsed by the moderate NewDem PAC.

Tulsi Gabbard's Financial Disclosures Leave Out Ties To Koch-Funded Think Tank

Source: Honolulu Civil Beat

Here’s something you might not know about U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard: She’s an advisor to a Charles Koch-funded foreign policy think tank based at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

One of the reasons that’s a surprise is because it’s nowhere to be found on her latest financial disclosure form.

The revelation comes in a new report from Sludge, an investigative news site that tracks money in politics, that highlights the Koch connection to the university’s Center for the Study of Statesmanship. The center was founded in 2017 through a $2.35 million grant from the billionaire’s foundation.

Gabbard, who’s running for president in the Democratic primary, is one of a dozen advisors to the center with strong ties to the Charles and David Koch network — which the author calls “The Kochtopus.”

Makes sense. She's not a big fan of Obama.

Cynthia Nixon attacks Joe Biden for calling Mike Pence a "decent man"

That's ok. Joe, if he runs, wants to be a uniter (Same as Obama) in order to attract moderates and differentiate himself from the more liberal primary opponents.
Recall that President Obama (Of whom almost all of us view favorably) said we are a kinder and gentler nation because of George HW Bush.

Below are links to Biden's comment, Nixon's tweet, and Obama's "very fine man" comment.
