Democrats should demand an apology from Trump's "trail of years" remark

Now that Ilhan Omar apologized to Democratic leaders in Congress over her comments about AIPAC, the following step should be condemning Trump’s remarks against native Americans and Elizabeth Warren.

My two cents? Democrats apologize too much.

National Enquirer Publisher Asked Justice Department for Advice on Saudi Connection

Source: Wall Street Journal

The dust-up between Amazon.com Inc. AMZN +0.03% founder Jeff Bezos and National Enquirer parent American Media LLC has raised questions about the media company’s connections to Saudi Arabia.

American Media has had plenty of contacts with Saudi Arabia in recent years, including seeking financial backing from Saudi investors to fund acquisitions and producing a magazine celebrating the country’s new crown prince.

It also sought advice last year from the U.S. Justice Department over whether the publisher should register as a foreign agent, a person familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal.

The issue of the ties came up last week when Mr. Bezos took to the internet to push back against what he said was an extortion attempt by the National Enquirer against him over an extramarital affair that the tabloid reported on last month featuring photos and texts. He said he launched his own probe into how the publication obtained his texts as well as its motives and wrote that the “Saudi angle seems to hit a particularly sensitive nerve.”

This is huge.
National Enquirer even created a magazine exclusively for the purpose of kissing the Prince's ass
NE also looked for money from the Saudis.
Then all of a sudden NE obtains naked pics of Khashoggi's former boss in the Washington Post (Bezos) who is critical if the Prince.
The plot thickens.

Northam opponents will not like this New York Times article

At a time when a lot of white parents sought to put their children in schools separated from black people, Northam’s parents decided to do the opposite: put him in public school. And he got along just fine:

In a region where black and white people largely lived in different communities, Ralph Northam hung around black neighborhoods with black friends. He was one of two white players on the high school basketball team in 1977, his senior year. His class had 73 students — 37 black, 36 white.

A black childhood friend says:
“We were chasing basketballs, baseballs. We were fishing. We were crabbing. We didn’t see race.”

He helped sick African-Americans.
Mr. Northam commuted 60 miles each way to treat the children at the center, including many from African-American, Latino or Haitian families who worked on the region’s farms or in its chicken processing plants.

One time and African-American friend and his wife had a stillborn baby. Northam comforted them:
Mr. Bailey retains a vivid memory from 1988, when his wife, Monica, was in Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, recovering from having delivered a stillborn child. “As God would have it, Ralph was doing a rotation at Walter Reed, and he found us and spent time,” Mr. Bailey, now a high school administrator, recalled.

So let’s look at his mistakes as well as the good relationship he has had with African-Americans.

Breaking: Fairfax impeachment plan postponed

I think the guy who wanted to impeach realized it's not that easy. Legal questions, whether there is enough support , etc..

If Northam is a racist, he's a strange one indeed

I don't know if Ralph Northam is a racist, but if he is, he's a weird one.
Imagine if all "racists" worked to expand Medicaid, the health program that serves the poor, and he helped to restore voting rights for felons, both policies that benefit many African Americans.
Then there's the majority of African Americans who want the racist to stay in power even after these scandals.

Speaking of automatically believing accusers. Let's talk about Avenatti

A woman accused Michael Avenatti of assaulting her, but not only did prosecutors decline to press felony charges, but I haven’t heard of any misdemeanor charges since this happened in December.

I remember back then when I raised skepticism over the accusations, I was sometimes accused of “blaming the victim”, as I if an accuser is known to be a victim from the get go.

Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax calls on FBI to investigate, urges 'due process' after sexual assault claims

Source: WTVR- CNN Wire

Embattled Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax released a new statement Saturday evening vowing not to resign and calling on the FB to investigate the two sexual assault allegations made against him.

Fairfax called the "interactions" he admits he had with both accusers "consensual" as there are growing calls for him to resign.

"I say again without reservation: I did not sexually assault or rape Meredith Watson, Vanessa Tyson or anyone else," Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax said in the statement.

Fairfax was accused by two women of sexual assault, including rape by one of the women. In his statement on Saturday, he acknowledges both interactions with the women, but says both instances were consensual.

I think we all agree on the FBI investigation.

Meredith Watson's representatives: Our client will not talk to journalists

It's her right and I respect it, although the move is a bit risky given that some people may wonder why she doesn't want to be asked a question here and there.
“Watson’s representatives declined to provide further documentation and said their client would not be talking to journalists.”

If Fairfax is innocent, impeachment proceedings are his best option

Right now, I am slightly inclined to believe Justin Fairfax's accusers.
But Fairfax says he's innocent.

If he is innocent, the only way he can get his excellent lawyers involved is by being the subject of impeachment proceedings.
Fairfax's accusers will have to answer tough questions that they don't have to face at this point.

If he is guilty, his best option is resignation so he doesn't have to waste money on legal defense.
Comments please.
