Justice matters.'s JournalFrance's Sarkozy likely to avoid jail despite new conviction
SummaryNicolas Sarkozy found guilty of illegal campaign financing
Former president receives a one-year jail sentence
Sarkozy is unlikely to spend time in prison
Sarkozy, 66, is unlikely to go to jail. He decided to appeal the sentence, a move that in effect suspends it, and the judge said he could serve the sentence at home with an electronic tag.
"I just ask the law to be the same for me as for any other citizen (...) I appealed for the court to dispense justice. I will go all the way in this quest", Sarkozy said on social media.
The second conviction this year for Sarkozy is a stunning fall from grace for the man who led France from 2007 to 2012 and retains influence among conservatives.

Bien cela alors!! ... Another RW crook.
Well, at least he didn't try to violently overturn an election he lost using his big lie and a 6-pt plot with help from his RW sycophants, obstruct Justice 10 times, intimidate witnesses, grab women by their genitals without their consent, et al (over 700,000 negligent homicides included!)... but he did pay a porn star to silence her as identified by the SDNY as "Individual 1" in his frauduient campaign (where are the charges, DOJ-FBI??)
Donald Trump being FORCED to Testify under OATH
Donald Trump after years of delay will [have to] give a deposition in a suit against him. Because he is out of power, he is no longer above the law and it [could] cost him.
If Zervos wins her (civil) case, it will be the first of a long series... E. J. Carroll's next?
Trump faces deposition by Christmas in suit brought by former 'Apprentice' contestant Summer Zervos

Summer Zervos says Trump smeared her name while on the 2016 presidential campaign after she went public with allegations he groped her in separate encounters in 2007.
Michael Rand, a law clerk for Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Jennifer Schecter, set a Dec. 23 deadline for Trump and Zervos lawyers to enter all evidence, including depositions from both sides.
Trump successfully stalled the case, which was filed in 2017, through legal arguments centered on his presidential responsibilities. His election defeat to President Biden has cleared the way for the suit to proceed.
Now, hes a private citizen, said Rand.
