Time flies. Memory dies. Which is why the Truth matters.

For instance, AG John Ashcroft stopped flying commercial that summer.

Ashcroft Flying High

CBS News
WASHINGTON, July 26, 2001

Fishing rod in hand, Attorney General John Ashcroft left on a weekend trip to Missouri Thursday afternoon aboard a chartered government jet, reports CBS News Correspondent Jim Stewart.

In response to inquiries from CBS News over why Ashcroft was traveling exclusively by leased jet aircraft instead of commercial airlines, the Justice Department cited what it called a "threat assessment" by the FBI, and said Ashcroft has been advised to travel only by private jet for the remainder of his term.

"There was a threat assessment and there are guidelines. He is acting under the guidelines," an FBI spokesman said. Neither the FBI nor the Justice Department, however, would identify what the threat was, when it was detected or who made it.

A senior official at the CIA said he was unaware of specific threats against any Cabinet member, and Ashcroft himself, in a speech in California, seemed unsure of the nature of the threat.

"I don't do threat assessments myself and I rely on those whose responsibility it is in the law enforcement community, particularly the FBI. And I try to stay within the guidelines that they've suggested I should stay within for those purposes," Ashcroft said.

Asked if he knew anything about the threat or who might have made it, the attorney general replied, "Frankly, I don't. That's the answer."

Good catch! Never thought there'd be a "President Trump."

Perhaps it takes away some of the shock of writing the “President of the United States is a traitor.”

Now that I’ve gotten to better understand the Demented and Perverted Bankrupt Unstable Moron, I can see how his treason really should be no surprise.

September 11, 2019

The President of the United States is a traitor.

The news the CIA extricated a secret agent who worked for decades in the Kremlin to monitor and report Putin’s doings, fearing Donald J. Trump would out an American spy to the Russian president, shows the U.S. national security apparatus doesn’t trust the President to keep secrets from our nation’s enemies.

That fact is amazing. And it reinforces through eyewitness reporting what Mueller documented: Putin and Russia helped elect Trump, Trump welcomed the help, Trump returned the favor through policies and actions to help Putin, and Trump has done nothing but lie about it all.

Wilbur needs to explain Bank of Cyprus Thing.

Along with Deutsche Bank, Ross’ bank laundered billions for Putin’s Oligarchs working money out of Russia. Billions.

Excerpt...

The Appleby files show how Ross, Trump’s commerce secretary, has used a chain of Cayman Islands entities to maintain a financial stake in Navigator Holdings, a shipping company whose top clients include the Kremlin-linked energy firm Sibur. Among Sibur’s key owners are Kirill Shamalov, Russian President Putin’s son-in-law, and Gennady Timchenko, a billionaire the U.S. government sanctioned in 2014 because of his links to Putin. Sibur is a major customer of Navigator, paying the company more than $23 million in 2016.

On Labor Day, US Workers are 1/3 poorer than in 2003 & Top 1% is 2x Richer

JUAN COLE
Informed Comment, 09/02/2019

Ann Arbor (Informed Comment) – On Labor Day, American workers have little to celebrate. That’s alright. The September Labor Day, while initially proposed by some workers in the 1880s, was backed by conservative President Grover Cleveland over May 1, which he associated with radicalism (i.e. with workers who would demand their rights). So it really isn’t for the workers, it is for the bosses.

David Harrison at the Wall Street Journal reports that the lower 50% of US households by wealth have 32% less wealth than in 2003 in real numbers.

They have only now, in 2019, finally regained the wealth they lost in the Great Bush near-Depression of 2007-2009.

So they’ve gotten back to what they had in the way of assets (home value and other valuables; probably not stocks, since that half of Americans doesn’t typically own securities) in 2007, but not what they had in 2003.

FDR employed artists on a national scale.

"I, too, have a dream-to show people in the out of the way places, some of whom are not only in small villages but in corners of New York City-something they cannot get from between the covers of books-some real paintings and prints and etchings and some real music."

Alex Carey said that the people of the US have been subjected to an unparalleled, expensive, 3/4 century long propaganda effort designed to expand corporate rights by undermining democracy and destroying the unions. Carey’s unique view of US history goes back to World War I and ends with the Reagan era.

Convicted child sex ring operator murdered in federal prison 2 Jan. 2019

Here’s more blinking red lights I didn’t know about...

3 charged with killing sex ring mastermind in prison

Robert Snell
The Detroit News, Aug. 21, 2019 |

Detroit — Three prison inmates stabbed, beat, kicked and stomped to death Christian Maire, the mastermind of an international child exploitation ring who was killed inside the federal detention center in Milan in January, according to an indictment unsealed Wednesday.

Alex "Sniper" Castro, 39, Jason "J" Kechego, 38, and Adam "Creeper" Wright, 39, were charged with first-degree premeditated murder and accused of conspiring to prey upon smaller, weaker inmates, including Maire and another member of the child exploitation ring, Michael Figura, prosecutors said.

Excerpt...

Maire and Figura belonged to an international child exploitation ring that perfected the art of preying on preteen and teenage girls. Members of the ring who were called hunters posed as teenage boys and trolled social media websites to lure victims to a private online chatroom before manipulating more than 100 children, including at least one from Metro Detroit, to strip, masturbate and perform sex acts on camera.

This attack should have been in the institutional memory, another reminder Epstein was in danger — whether he also was a danger to himself is secondary. Epstein told the NYT he had compromising info on the rich and powerful. Epstein thus was a threat to the perverts at the top of the elite heap until he died.

Trump Is Hell

It’s not just other people, anymore. It’s just one guy.

Welcome to the Trump dictatorship

by Lucian K. Truscott IV

Another week of shaking our heads and wondering how much longer we can survive him. Yet again, Donald Trump overwhelmed practically everything with the force of his obscene personality, running his mouth and his thumbs even while he was failing to run the country in any sort of conventional sense. He doesn’t actually do anything, but he dominates everything. Living in America today is like being trapped in a room with him — no doors, no windows, no exits, only Trump and the sound of Trump and the hideous image of Trump, all day, every day, for day after day after day.

I was trying to think how to describe what it feels like to live in this country today when I came across a big profile of Neil Young published in this weekend’s New York Times Magazine. The author, David Samuels, was commiserating with Young about the state of music in the age of Spotify and Apple and the digitization of everything comprised of musical notes. Surveying a landscape into which he doesn’t feel he fits anymore, Samuels described Young as “stumped.” “I’ve got great melodies, and the words are all profanities,” Young said.

Exactly. That’s America in the age of Trump, why everyone’s Facebook posts are screams of frustration and anger stuffed with profanity. The sense of powerlessness is almost overwhelming. You don’t feel like you can actually do anything. Everything is in stasis, stuck. Neil Young is right. We’re stumped.

Our senses dictate how we experience the world — our hearing and sight and touch and smell, even the ineffable stuff like intuition and belief. But when our senses are overwhelmed by someone like Trump, when our lives seem filled with a man who does nothing but endlessly tweet and lie and hate, it kills us inside. Trump is killing us.
