Beto still beating Trump in Texas & 49.1% support for mandatory buybacks vs 28.5% oppose

Looking at the www.uttyler.edu/... [pdf], the breakdown on mandatory buyback was 33.4% strongly support, 15.7% support, 17.6% neutral, 8.7% oppose, 19.8% strongly oppose, 4.8% aren't sure. So net 49.1% support, 28.5% oppose.

Beto can really bring it against Republican "values" using the moral highground

Today and yesterday reminded me just how good Beto is on speaking from the high ground on moral issues.

Beto is not a great candidate to attack other Democrats on a debate stage--but I, at least, don't want that. He does shine when he makes the case against Republicans on issues like race, police violence, and gun control.

For those who haven't seen it, here is a video of Beto bringing it to church (literally) on police violence.

And below is the response on the NFL that became a viral sensation. This question was asked by a Ted Cruz supporter hoping to trip Beto up. At the time most Democratic politicians in blue states were staying pretty quiet on this--Beto is really, really good about speaking his beliefs no matter what the audience. At the time, Texas was considered ruby red--now, the latest poll has Beto beating Trump by 11 in Texas which is entirely believable with presidential year turnout.

USA today reaches millions of readers, many of whom may not have bothered to watch the debate. Beto actually got the most coverage and since the exchanges were quoted verbatim, he came across a lot better than his attackers did.

What song best fits your candidate?

I started a thread earlier today about Jesse Colin Young of the Youngbloods opened a Beto event this week and how I thought the lyrics (chorus especially) to "Get Together" were such a good fit for Beto.

I thought it would be fun to broaden this and bring some positive musical energy to our discussion of candidates. The last week has not always been so positive on DU so maybe this will give a lighthearted break to the other threads.

What song do you dream about playing in the background as your candidate takes the stage? What song would you like to rock out to on your headphones as you go house to house (far distance houses, lol) canvassing for your candidate?

Jesse Collin Young sang his famous "Get Together" song at campaign event

He endorsed Beto this week and came to one of his campaign events to open the event. I always knew and liked the song, but didn't know the singer or his band, The Youngbloods. The chorus especially is a perfect fit for Beto and a good counter to Trump!
