New: Trump pressured a Georgia elections investigator in a...call...could amount to obstruction
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-call-georgia-investigator/2021/01/09/7a55c7fa-51cf-11eb-83e3-322644d82356_story.htmlPresident Trump urged Georgias lead elections investigator to find the fraud in a lengthy December phone call, saying the official would be a national hero, according to an individual familiar with the call who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the conversation.
Trump placed the call to the investigations chief for the Georgia secretary of states office shortly before Christmas while the individual was leading an inquiry into allegations of ballot fraud in Cobb County, in the suburbs of Atlanta, according to people familiar with the episode.

Thoughts?
Can Schumer refer the impeachment to committee?
Assuming Pelosi pauses sending notice of impeachment until Schumer is the Majority Leader, can the Democrats decide to send the matter of impeachment to a committee, thus freeing up the Senate to do other urgent business?
David Waldman of Daily Kos, who is knowledgeable, says this:

There is no reason why an impeachment trial for Trump should block confirmation votes on Bidens appointments.
If Trump is no longer in office, its no longer a trial of the president, and the Senate can hold the trial in committee, the way they do when impeaching judges.

Murkowski calls on President Trump to resign, questions her future as a Republican
https://www.adn.com/politics/2021/01/08/alaska-sen-lisa-murkowski-calls-on-president-trump-to-resign-questions-her-future-as-a-republican/Well, you know, theres a lot of people who actually thought that I did that in 2010, think that I became an independent. I didnt have any reason to leave my party in 2010. I was a Republican who ran a write-in campaign and I was successful. But I will tell you, if the Republican Party has become nothing more than the party of Trump, I sincerely question whether this is the party for me, she said.

EDIT: Corrected "bans" to "suspends" because the Tweet itself isn't accurate. But they are suspended.

And the counting of electoral votes has been stopped
When will it resume? It's critical that these votes be counted.
Democrats should call on Republicans to immediately stop their protest of the count.
