I agree with David Waldman: Senator Lee was out of order

Tomorrow’s impeachment session should begin with a warning to Senator Lee that he was in violation of the admonition to keep silence under Rule II, and that Senators will not be recognized for the purposes of making objections to evidence or testimony.

Also:

Lee claimed that he was making his objection pursuant to Rule XVI. Rule XVI makes no such allowance for objections from Senators sitting as jurors.

I was being kind. It SHOULD start with his imprisonment for violation of the very clear rule.

NYT: Georgia Prosecutors Open Criminal Investigation of Trump Call

Let's get the investigations going. Note that this is a new story from today and is separate from Raffensperger's administrative request that he made on Monday.

Georgia Prosecutors Open Criminal Investigation of Trump Call

Fulton County prosecutors have initiated a criminal investigation into former President Donald J. Trump’s January phone call to the Georgia secretary of state asking him to “find” votes.

Prosecutors in Fulton County have initiated a criminal investigation into former President Donald J. Trump’s attempts to overturn Georgia’s election results, including a phone call he made to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in which Mr. Trump pressured him to “find” enough votes to help him reverse his loss.

On Wednesday, Fani Willis, the recently elected Democratic prosecutor in Fulton County, sent a letter to numerous officials in state government, including Mr. Raffensperger, requesting that they preserve documents related to Mr. Trump’s call, according to a state official with knowledge of the letter. The letter explicitly stated that the request was part of a criminal investigation, said the official, who insisted on anonymity to discuss internal matters.

Raskin sent letter to Trump asking for testimony under oath!

Wow

Breaking: Today, Lead Impeachment Manager Jamie Raskin sent a letter to former President Donald Trump requesting that he provide testimony under oath, either before or during the Senate impeachment trial, about his conduct on January 6.

Further:

Raskin to Trump: "Two days ago, you filed an Answer in which you denied many factual allegations set forth in the article of impeachment ... In light of your disputing these factual allegations, I write to invite you to provide testimony under oath."

EDIT: Thanks to a poster below, here is a link to the letter:

Did you catch this comment from Speaker Pelosi? :)

From today's press conference. She was commenting on the House Managers for impeachment:

Why don't we just wait and let them make their case? They have been very, shall we say, silent, hard working, brilliant, in terms of what we saw in the brief. Not only wise, but, you might appreciate, well written. And no spelling mistakes of the United States.

"Liz isn't your girlfriend." Amazing moment from inside ongoing House GOP meeting

Just now on CNN reporter Jamie Gangel reported about the ongoing House GOP meeting.

There was one anecdote that a member just texted me from inside the meeting just now that I think also speaks to a certain tone. Mike Kelly from Pennsylvania stood up and said that seeing Cheney's statement was like playing at a big football game and looking up to see your girlfriend sitting in the opposing team's stand. To which women in the caucus yelled at him, "Liz isn't your girlfriend."

House Democrats plan to mount offensive to tie Republicans to QAnon

This is awesome!

House Democrats plan to mount offensive to tie Republicans to QAnon

In light of the Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene controversy, on a caucus call this morning, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Sean Patrick Maloney told his colleagues that Democrats plan to stay, "relentlessly on offense" against Republicans, according to a person familiar who is on the call.

They're vowing a new round of attacks against Congresswoman Lauren Boebert in Colorado.

Guess what Lin Wood is being investigated for?

https://twitter.com/kylegriffin1/status/1356744205054394369

Breaking WSB-TV: Pro-Trump attorney Lin Wood is under investigation by the Georgia Secretary of State over whether he voted illegally in the November election.

EDIT: From the linked story:

Sources at the secretary of state’s office say an email that Wood sent to Gray caused them to launch an official investigation.

In the email, Wood confirmed he moved to South Carolina, writing “I have been domiciled in South Carolina for several months after purchasing property in the state in April.”

Now state election investigators are looking into whether that means Wood legally should not have been able to vote in the November election.

They site a section of Georgia code that reads “If a person removes to another state with the intention of making it such person’s residence, such person shall be considered to have lost such person’s residence in this state.”

Durbin: Still negotiating over the Senate organizing resolution

https://twitter.com/igorbobic/status/1356643155756670976

Schumer and McConnell still negotiating over the Senate organizing resolution, per Durbin. McConnell didn’t answer when asked what the hold up was earlier today.

The delay over the organizing resolution, which gives the committee gavels to Dems, is already impacting Biden’s nominees. Durbin can’t set a hearing for Garland because Graham is still chairman. Graham wants a 2 day hearing, refusing to set one before the impeachment trial.

“They’re hoping to get that done today,” Barasso says
