Mike Howe, the singer from the heavy metal band Metal Church, died Monday morning at his home in Eureka, Calif. He was 55.
Led by Kurdt Vanderhoof, Metal Church was formed in 1980 and has been credited as a vital influence on thrash metal. The band has released 12 studio albums and counted over 20 members, past and present. It's had three albums that charted on the Billboard 200: 1987's The Dark, 1989's Blessing in Disguise, and 2016's XI. Howe first joined the band in 1988, replacing then-singer David Wayne.

WSU Cougars football coach Nick Rolovich elects not to get COVID-19 vaccine,
Second-year Washington State coach Nick Rolovich wont be attending Pac-12 media day in person this year due to the events vaccination requirements, he announced via Twitter on Wednesday. According to the conference, Pac-12 media day participants must be fully vaccinated in order to attend the single-day event held on July 27 at Hollywood and Highland.
According to multiple reports, Rolovich is the only Pac-12 head coach who wont be in attendance at media day. Two WSU players, running back Max Borghi and linebacker Jahad Woods, will represent the Cougars in Hollywood next week.
