Green Card Interviews End in Handcuffs for Spouses of U.S. Citizens

Agents are arresting foreign-born spouses when they report for the final step to obtain permanent residency, and charging them with visa violations that could result in deportation.

The married couples filed into a federal building in San Diego last week for green card interviews that they believed would secure their future together in the United States. Half of each pair was American. Stephen Paul came with his British wife and their 4-month-old baby. Audrey Hestmark arrived with her German husband, days before their first wedding anniversary. Jason Cordero accompanied his Mexican wife.

It was supposed to be a celebratory milestone, the final step in the process to obtain U.S. permanent residency. Instead, as each interview with an immigration officer wrapped up, federal agents swooped in, handcuffed the foreign spouse and took him or her away.

“I had to take our baby from my crying wife’s arms,” Mr. Paul, 33, said, recalling the moment that agents said they were arresting his wife, Katie.

Ms. Paul was sent to an immigration detention center with hundreds of other people swept up in the Trump administration’s crackdown. Her husband had to take a leave from his job at the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department to care for their child and try to secure her release.

First 'piggy,' now 'ugly': Trump continues attacks on female reporters

The New York Times produced a detailed, data-driven report on President Trump showing signs of aging. The president, 79, responded by calling the female reporter who co-wrote the story “ugly.”

Trump responded on Wednesday morning by saying, “The Creeps at the Failing New York Times are at it again.”

He did not mention the male reporter who co-wrote the story, Dylan Freedman, who is on the newspaper’s AI initiatives team, but he personally attacked the female reporter, Katie Rogers, who is a White House correspondent.

“The writer of the story, Katie Rogers, who is assigned to write only bad things about me, is a third rate reporter who is ugly, both inside and out,” Trump wrote.

Iran president says capital move now a necessity as water crisis deepens

Iran’s capital must be moved because the country “no longer has a choice,” President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Thursday in remarks carried by state media, warning that severe ecological strain has made Tehran impossible to sustain.

Pezeshkian said the pressure on water, land and infrastructure had left the government with “no option” but to act. “When we said we must move the capital, we did not even have enough budget. If we had, maybe it would have been done. The reality is that we no longer have a choice; it is an obligation,” he said in a speech in Qazvin.

He said Tehran now faces “catastrophe” as land in parts of the capital sinks by up to 30 centimeters a year and water supplies shrink. “When we say the land subsides 30 centimeters each day, this means disaster,” he said. He warned that mismanagement, construction in upstream areas and cuts to downstream water flows risk irreversible damage.

Pezeshkian said officials across government must work together or “a dark future” awaits. “Protecting the environment is not a joke,” he said. “Ignoring it means signing our own destruction.”

MTG: ""I really want to just see people be kind to one another."

‘Humbly, I’m sorry’: Marjorie Taylor Greene says she’s turning a new leaf after years of divisive comments

When pressed by Bash on why she didn’t speak out against Trump using [toxic] rhetoric until it was directed at her, Greene conceded that it was “fair criticism.”

“I would like to say, humbly, I’m sorry for taking part in the toxic politics; it’s very bad for our country,” Greene said. “It’s been something I’ve thought about a lot, especially since Charlie Kirk was assassinated.”

“I’m only responsible for myself and my own words and actions … and I’ve been working on this a lot lately, to put down the knives in politics,” Greene said. “I really want to just see people be kind to one another.”

“I’m leading the way with my own example, and I hope that President Trump can do the same,” she said.

Trump accuses MTG of going "Far Left"

Trump supports replacing ‘ranting lunatic’ MTG in stunning public breakup amid her push to release Epstein files

President Donald Trump tore into his former ally Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene late Friday, after the Georgia Republican accused the White House of a “huge miscalculation” in brushing off attempts to release more of the Jeffrey Epstein files.

In a Truth Social post, the president called Greene a “ranting lunatic” and accused her of going “Far Left” because of her recent criticisms of Republicans on issues including Epstein, healthcare, and inflation.

“I understand that wonderful, Conservative people are thinking about primarying Marjorie in her District of Georgia, that they too are fed up with her and her antics and, if the right person runs, they will have my Complete and Unyielding Support,” Trump wrote, adding that he no longer takes Greene’s calls.

The stinging remarks came after Greene said earlier in the day that President Trump is engaging in a “huge miscalculation” by dismissing the bipartisan group of House lawmakers pushing the government to release more of the Epstein files.

Liam .. commanded the stage with his signature sneer softened into a triumphant grin.

For the 70,000 in Sydney, Oasis’s final bow was a cathartic blast of pure, unadulterated Brit-pop glory.

The Gallagher brothers, walking out hand-in-hand, presented a united front against years of discord, launching into a 23-song set that felt less like a concert and more like a mass, singalong therapy session.

From the opening swagger of ‘Hello,’ the band was a juggernaut. Already, we were in the thick of it.

Liam Gallagher, a rock ‘n’ roll pirouette in parka and maracas, commanded the stage with his signature sneer softened into a triumphant grin.

Noel, the stoic architect, provided the anthemic scaffolding, his riffs soaring into the night.

As fireworks painted the sky, Liam’s parting shot was perfect: “I know we can be f***ing dickheads, but thanks for sticking with us.”
