... Barr reiterated that the Justice Department was not ignoring the allegations, but that Trump's outside lawyers were doing a terrible job. "I'm a pretty informed legal observer and I can't fucking figure out what the theory is here," he added. "It's just scattershot. It's all over the hill and gone."
...A week later, the New York Times reported that Barr was considering resigning. Barr's relationship with the president was becoming untenable, and the president was listening to Sidney Powell and Giuliani instead of his White House counsel and attorney general.
Barr decided to quit before their private skirmishes spilled further into public view. Some speculated he had quit over the president's increasingly questionable pardons. But that had nothing to do with it. Barr had made it clear to Cipollone he did not want to be consulted on these post-election pardons. He did not need to hear about them until he received the official notices. The only pardon he made an effort to preemptively stop was for Edward Snowden.

Earlier, Trump wanted to use the Insurrection Act to send the military into U.S. cities. He wanted troops in the street.
What would these soldiers do, Barr pointed out. Just stand around and get yelled at? Trump didn't care. "We look weak and this is hurting us". Then he slammed his hand on the Resolute Desk.
"No one supports me," Trump yelled. "No one gives me any fucking support.". Trump got up and stormed out of the Oval Office.

India has declined assistance offered by the United Nations of its integrated supply chain for COVID19-related material, saying the country has a "robust system" to deal with the required logistics, a spokesperson for UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said.
"One of the things we did is we offered the assistance of our integrated supply chain if it was required. We've been told at this point that it's not needed because India has a reasonably robust system to deal with this. But our offer stands, and we're willing to help in whatever way we can," Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for the UN Chief, said in response to a question by PTI.
On whether any shipments of essential materials from UN agencies are expected to reach India amid the crisis, Mr Haq said, "none have been sought so far, but like I said, we do have people, including our people who deal with operational and logistical issues who are willing to help, if we're needed, and we're in touch with our counterparts in India to see whether that will be useful."
As India battles a crippling surge in COVID-19 infections and deaths, the United Nations has been in touch at various levels with authorities in India.

A German police bomb squad called to investigate a suspected hand grenade in a Bavarian forest has revealed that the object was a rubber sex toy.
A jogger reported finding a bag containing the device on Monday in a forest outside the city of Passau, near Germany’s borders with Austria and the Czech Republic.
The discovery of forgotten or hidden munitions is a regular occurrence in Germany more than 75 years after the end of the second world war.
When the bomb squad arrived and inspected the contents of the bag, they determined it was a rubber grenade replica. The condoms and lubricant in the bag helped point to the device’s intended use, police told the German news agency dpa.
“An internet search confirmed the suspicion,” police said. “There are actually sex toys in the form of hand grenades.”

Twitter has taken down dozens of tweets in India, some of which were critical of New Delhi's handling of the coronavirus, to comply with an emergency order from the Indian government.
New Delhi made an emergency order to Twitter to censor over 50 tweets in the country, Twitter disclosed on Lumen database. The social network has complied with the request, and withheld those tweets from users in India.
TechCrunch has learned that Twitter is not the only platform affected by the new order. Facebook didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
India, which has also previously ordered Twitter to take down some tweets and accounts critical of its policies and threatened jail time to employees in the event of non-compliance, comes as the country reports a record of over 330,000 new covid cases a day, the worst by any country. News reports suggest that even this number is underreported.

As Covid-19 Devastates India, Deaths Go Undercounted

“It’s a complete massacre of data,” said Bhramar Mukherjee, an epidemiologist at the University of Michigan who has been following India closely. “From all the modeling we’ve done, we believe the true number of deaths is two to five times what is being reported.”
At one of the large cremation grounds in Ahmedabad, a city in the western Indian state of Gujarat, bright orange fires light up the night sky, burning 24 hours a day, like an industrial plant that never shuts down. Suresh Bhai, a worker there, said he had never seen such a never-ending assembly line of death.
But he has not been writing down the cause of death as Covid-19 on the thin paper slips that he hands over to the mournful families, even though the number of dead is surging along with the virus.
“Sickness, sickness, sickness,” Mr. Suresh said. “That’s what we write.”
When asked why, he said it was what he had been instructed to do by his bosses, who did not respond to requests for comment.

Turtles Keep Flying Through The Windshields Of Unsuspecting Motorists
It’s noteworthy but not unprecedented that a 71-year-old woman was injured by an object crashing through the windshield of her car as she drove down a Florida interstate this week. What was remarkable about this incident was the projectile in question.
A turtle.
It’s a scene that reminds me of the grim reality of real-life Mario Kart. But even weirder is finding out that this happens more often than you’d think.
On Wednesday, a woman made a frantic call to 911 dispatchers, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported. What happened? The caller and her mother were driving on I-95 near Port Orange, Florida, when something crashed through the windshield, putting a gash into her mother’s head.
As the daughter administered aid to her mom, the 911 dispatcher asked whether she knew what had hit her mom. She originally thought it was a piece of concrete. Then she figured out that it was actually a turtle.
