Ashley Parker of WaPo says Bidens are just as bad as the Trumps

Because apparently the photo of Naomi Biden in her wedding dress was taken beforehand for Vogue.

This is why I will NEVER give my money to WaPo or NYT.

I am not leaving Twitter

Until it crashes and burns (likely) or I am banned (also likely after what I tweeted back to Elon and Jack Dorsey).

I will never capitulate to the forces of evil.

I will not let it become a RW echo chamber for domestic terrorists.

Besides, we have the GA runoffs in a couple of weeks!

It's been such a sad night on Twitter

I know many here do not like it, but there really was a sense of community.

I started my first Twitter account in 2009. I did not even pay any attention to the political side until after the 2016 election disaster.

Even though there are over 450M active accounts each month, you really found some great people on Twitter.

I don't know if we would have flipped 40 House seats and 7 governorships in 2018 without Twitter.

It was also an interesting place to be during COVID lockdowns.

People are very upset.

Quote from Southpaw tweet above:

I said it and Iíll say it again. I like this place, and Iím sorry this is happening.

Quotes from Ekfletch tweets:

I am seeing all sorts of messages about twitter imploding and so might as well add my nostalgia to the pile. twitter was a lifeline for me as a young academic. in a small town in rural Pennsylvania with no colleagues who worked on the same things as I did, it was my community.

I built a really fantastic community here of development economists and sociologists and political scientists. I found mentors and co-authors and friends for life. It's changed a lot and I've become more of a consumer than a producer in recent years as my priorities changed

All the same, I've wrestled mightily these past few weeks with where to share interesting articles, post kudos and self-promote, to chat with my colleagues, read the news, find out about cutting edge economics and get the tea as that community has migrated, dwindled, moved on.

twitter has been all those things to me and more and I'll miss it. So much.

I'm on mastodon at @ekfletch@mastodon.social though still finding my way there and not sure what it will be to me yet. Hope to see you there, or elsewhere.
