Four people, including a child, were killed Wednesday evening and a fifth person was injured in a mass shooting at an Orange office complex.

It marks the third mass shooting in the United States in two weeks, coming after incidents at three Atlanta spas that killed eight people, including six Asian women, and at a Boulder, Colo. supermarket that killed 10.

Biden:Opportunity for big spending on infrastructure

https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2021-03-31/biden-seeing-opportunity-calls-for-big-spending-on-infrastructure

President Biden on Wednesday in Pittsburgh will outline a plan worth more than $2 trillion centered on an ambitious infrastructure initiative to repair, replace or rebuild the country’s roads, bridges, schools and more, as well as fund expanded broadband access, training programs and family caregiving.
The proposal represents Biden’s long-anticipated attempt to make progress on an issue — the state of the nation’s public works — that has languished for years despite bipartisan consensus that improvements are needed.

“The urgency and need for action has been identified again and again in Washington, and we now have an opportunity to really do something about it,” said an administration official who spoke on the condition of anonymity before Wednesday’s announcement.

BREAKING In reversal, exit polls now show Netanyahu losing majority

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.haaretz.com/amp/israel-news/elections/israel-election-live-vote-count-to-be-delayed-due-to-coronavirus-regulations-1.9645682

An updated exit poll shows the Netanyahu bloc up to 53, while his opposition is up to 60, which means that even with Yamina joining him, he would not make a majority of 61.

The updated figures give Likud 31 seats, Yesh Atid 17, Shas 9, the Joint List 8, Kahol Lavan 8, Yamina 7, Labor 7, Meretz 7, United Torah Judaism 7, Yisrael Beiteinu 7, Religious Zionism 6, and New Hope 6. The United Arab List remains out. (Haaretz)

Hopefully this s a proper use of "BREAKING" in the subject line.

Manchin: "I'm still at 60"

Manchin also rejected calls by proponents of gutting filibuster rules to require 41 senators to be present to sustain a filibuster.

"No, I'm still at 60. OK?" he said.

So like, 60 Senators required to sustain a fillibuster? I am most likely wrong here, but it almost sounds like that's what he is saying.

His globetrotting""let's do this, I'm open to this" and "no!!" Responses leave a lot of room for fantastical interpretations.

Have you been vaccinated yet?

We just received our first shot this afternoon of pfizer. Second is scheduled. For those having trouble making appointments: we called into albertsons and they sent us a special link to schedule -while on their websites, no appointments were available.

Should Ron Johnson resign?

Given how much of a royal f-up he has been the entire time in the senate?

Do you think Donald Trump will be indicted?

I get he's a rich and powerful man and all, but I really do think that he's tested the limits of impropriety that even somebody like him wouldn't be able to get away with -which means I do think he will be indicted relatively soon. What say you?

Manchin Drops more hints on how he would reform the fillibuster

If the minority party wants to obstruct, make them work for it! Starting to not feel as bad about this Manchin fellow.

https://slate.com/business/2021/03/joe-manchin-filibuster-senate-hints.html

Specifically, the piece says, Manchin “thinks either the majority needs to come up with 60 votes to overcome a filibuster or the minority to come up with 41 votes to sustain it.”

The senator has now said that on top of requiring the minority to actually talk during a filibuster, he’d be open to requiring that they keep 41 votes on the floor in order to maintain their blockade. No matter what, that would be a massive time suck for opposition lawmakers, which would make filibustering more logistically difficult. But once you’ve made the rule change, it also opens up the potential for old-timey hardball tactics like running the Senate 24/7 until the opposing side just drops.
