COVID-19 data in Shelby County shows impact greater on African-Americans, those with pre-existing co

Of the quarter of Shelby County's total confirmed cases recorded so far (230 of the 897), health experts said more than two-thirds were African-American, and more than two-thirds of the total deaths were also African-American

This is alarming! But I'm not sure it is out of whack since the demographics for the Memphis area are: Black 64.22%, White 29.08, Other Races 3.36%. So is this high percentage indicative of the population make up, or is there something else going on here? (Sorry, math is def not my forte. 😊

NEJM 43.8% Present with fever until virus progresses

Note: My headline, extrapolated from NEMJ Report.

"...admission and 88.7% during hospitalization) and cough (67.8%)."

Take this info & consider CDC's new guidelines (they are working on) to have known exposed persons return to work if they are asymptomatic, with the protective factor being to take temps twice / day. Plus, we already know infected persons are contagious before they are symptomatic!

Is CDC goal to keep infected people in close quarters at work until their viral liad is sufficient to kill en masse?

Look what happened when JP Morgan Chase forced traders back onto trading floor:

Not the Onion! CDC looks at changing guidelines to get EXPOSED asymptomatic people back to work

Reposted for visability due to dangers involved.

WASHINGTON — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is considering changing its guidelines for self-isolation to make it easier for those who have been exposed to someone with the coronavirus to return to work if they are asymptomatic.

The public health agency, in conjunction with the White House coronavirus task force, is considering an announcement as soon as Wednesday, Vice President Mike Pence said on Tuesday.

WTH? Scientists have consistently said people who are positive, yet asymptomatic, shed infectious virus!

REPOST: JPMorgan sees surge in coronavirus cases after pressuring traders to go to work: report

[link:https://nypost.com/2020/04/03/jpmorgan-traders-feel-pressured-to-report-to-work-during-coronavirus-outbreak/|

JPMorgan pressured its traders to come into work despite a coronavirus outbreak on its Midtown trading floor, a new report alleges — and now nearly two dozen traders are sick and another 65 are in quarantine.

In just three weeks some 20 employees on one floor in the investment bank’s Madison Avenue headquarters have tested positive for the virus, with another 65 quarantined, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

Traders responsible for buying and selling stock broke down in tears when they were told they’d have to report into the Midtown office as the cases mounted, while top brass juggled their workers’ health and making money, the Journal expose said.

“There are risks to personal health, there are risks to public health. We are called upon to balance,” Jason Sippel, JPMorgan’s head of global equities, told employees Thursday, stressing their duty to report to work in person, the Journal said.

And the CD is formulating a plan now to send exposed, asymptomatic people back to work early!

NEJM Stats: ONLY 43.8% Present with fever

So when CDC says if you were exposed, but asymptomatic, go back to work & we will take your temp, you know that they know better! 🤬

Fever is one of the primary symptoms of COVID-19, though a substantial number of patients never develop one. One study found that when patients were first admitted to the hospital with COVID-19, only 44% had fever. But as the disease progressed, 89% eventually reported a high temperature."

Snip

So, it appears our illustrious govt wants workers at work until their viral load is super high? Maximum damage & death is apparently the goal with CDC. 🤬

Plasma treatment being tested in New York may be coronavirus 'game changer'

[link:https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/plasma-treatment-being-tested-new-york-may-be-coronavirus-gamechanger-n1178436|

In the past few days, the Mount Sinai Hospital System has injected more than 20 very sick coronavirus patients with a "convalescent serum" based on the blood plasma of people who have recovered from the disease.

As first reported in a series of stories by NBCNews.com, Dr. Arturo Casadevall of the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore has spearheaded a nationwide effort to develop a plasma treatment.

Dr. Jeffrey Jhang, medical director of clinical laboratories and transfusion services for the Mount Sinai Health System, said: "We have so many patients who are sick. We are crossing our fingers that this will be a game changer and really accelerate the recovery of these patients."

The National COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma Project is a consortium of more than 40 of the nation's top health institutions across 22 states looking to collect plasma from recovered COVID-19 patients to assist in treating those currently ill with the disease or to perhaps prevent others, like front-line medical workers, from getting the virus at all.

CDC removes unusual guidance to doctors about drug favored by Trump

[link:https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/live-blog/2020-04-08-coronavirus-news-n1178891|

2h ago / 2:04 AM CDT

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has removed from its website highly unusual guidance informing doctors on how to prescribe hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine, drugs recommended by President Donald Trump to treat the coronavirus.

It had previously noted anecdotal evidence that the drugs were effective in combatting COVID-19.

The original guidance was crafted by the CDC after Trump personally pressed federal regulatory and health officials to make the malaria drugs more widely available to treat the novel coronavirus, though the drugs in question had been untested for COVID-19.

The site now states “There are no drugs or other therapeutics approved by the US Food and Drug Administration to prevent or treat COVID-19.”
