White nationalist Patriot Front members sue for being exposed for who they are

White nationalist Patriot Front members sue for being exposed for who they are

Five people affiliated with white nationalist hate group Patriot Front are suing a Seattle-area man who they say infiltrated the group and disclosed their identities online, leading them to lose their jobs and face harassment, according to The Seattle Times.

What they’re really upset about is suffering the consequences of their abhorrent views — views that they feel so strongly about, they don’t want anyone to know. The suit accuses David Alan Capito, 37, also known as Vyacheslav Arkhangelskiy, of using a false name in late July 2021 to convince Patriot Front to accept him as a member.

Once inside the group, Capito took pictures at its get-togethers in the Pacific Northwest, surreptitiously recorded members’ license plates and used hidden microphones to record conversations, according to the lawsuit.

The suit also accuses Capito of using another group to hack into online chat rooms, further exposing members’ appalling views. We don’t condone doxxing, or searching for and publishing private or identifying information about an individual on the internet, typically with malicious intent.

We are not weighing in on whether this lawsuit has merit and we certainly don’t condone breaking the law, which might be what’s found to have happened here, as the members claim.

A veteran FBI agent told Congress that investigations into Giuliani and other Trump allies were 'suppressed'

A veteran FBI counterintelligence agent says his supervisor told him to stop investigating Rudy Giuliani and to cut off contact with any sources who reported on corruption by associates of former President Donald Trump, according to a whistleblower complaint obtained by Insider.

The agent, who served 14 years as a special agent for the bureau, including a long stint in Russia-focussed counter-intelligence, claims in a 22-page statement that his bosses interfered with his work in "a highly suspicious suppression of investigations and intelligence-gathering" aimed at protecting "certain politically active figures and possibly also FBI agents" who were connected to Russian and Ukrainian oligarchs.

Those figures, the statement claims, explicitly included "anyone in the [Trump] White House and any former or current associates of President Trump."

Singer and songwriter Sixto Rodriguez, subject of 'Searching for Sugar Man' documentary, dies at 81

Sixto Rodriguez, who lived in obscurity as his music career flamed out early in the U.S. only to find success in South Africa and a stardom he was unaware of, died Tuesday in Detroit. He was 81.

Rodriguez's legacy would take off back home after the singer and songwriter became the subject of the Oscar-winning documentary “Searching for Sugar Man.”

His death was announced on the Sugarman.org website and confirmed Wednesday by his granddaughter, Amanda Kennedy.

He died following a short illness, according to his wife, Konny Rodriguez, 72.

A 2013 Associated Press story referred to Rodriguez as “the greatest protest singer and songwriter that most people never heard of.”

His albums flopped in the United States in the 1970s, but — unknown to him — he later became a star in South Africa where his songs protesting the Vietnam War, racial inequality, abuse of women and social mores inspired white liberals horrified by the country's brutal racial segregation system of apartheid.

Methuen police officer arrested on child pornography charge

A Methuen police officer was arrested at his home Tuesday morning on a child pornography charge, Massachusetts State Police say.

Officer Matthew Bistany, 51, was taken into custody at his home in Methuen by the state police cybercrimes unit, with help from a state SWAT team and Methuen police, according to state police.

Bistany appeared in Lawrence District Court to face the charge of child pornography Tuesday, where a judge approved $5,000 bail on condition that he not have unsupervised contact with children under 16.

It wasn't immediately clear if Bistany had an attorney who could speak to the charge.

Bistany was identified as a suspect in the uploading of child sexual assault material to the internet after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent a tip to the Massachusetts State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, officials said

Search warrant was issued for Donald Trump's Twitter account

Search warrant was issued for Donald Trump's Twitter account

The US special counsel investigating Donald Trump obtained a secret search warrant for the ex-president's Twitter data in January, unsealed records show.

Jack Smith requested "data and records" relating to Mr Trump's account which may have included unpublished posts.

After initially resisting the warrant, Twitter eventually complied, but missed a court-ordered deadline by three days.

The delay resulted in the company being handed a $350,000 (£275,000) fine for contempt of court.

The existence of the search warrant and the legal fight over it was revealed in court documents unsealed on Wednesday.

According to the unsealed ruling, which still includes some redactions, Twitter's lawyers did not object to the warrant itself, but disputed the nondisclosure order which kept it secret.

Man charged in 9-year-old girl's Portage Park shooting death denied bond

The man charged with the murder of a 9-year-old Chicago girl was denied bond on Tuesday.

Despite being shot in the face during the weekend incident, 43-year-old Michael Goodman appeared in-person at the Leighton Criminal Courts building Tuesday afternoon.

He was dressed in a black T-shirt and green shorts.

The left side of his face was still healing from the incident.

No motive for the shooting was revealed during the hearing, but a Cook County judge did deny Goodman bond.

The defendant's public defender did not comment after the hearing, but in court asked for a reasonable bond, saying that her client has no criminal history.

Family and friends gathered near Serabi Medina's home in Portage Park Monday night for a vigil in her honor.

Lawyer says teen accused of stabbing gay man to death is "a good Christian boy"

Lawyer says teen accused of stabbing gay man to death is “a good Christian boy”

The suspect's mother said her son goes to church so he couldn't have committed the alleged anti-gay hate crime.

The 17-year-old who was arrested in connection to the stabbing death of a gay man is apparently “a good Christian boy,” according to his attorney.

According to witnesses and security camera footage, 28-year-old professional dancer and gay man O’Shea Sibley was voguing to a song from Beyoncé’s Rennaissance album in pink shorts at a gas station in Brooklyn on July 29 when a group of young men told him to stop. One witness said that the young men cited their Muslim faith as a reason that Sibley had to stop dancing, and others said that they used anti-gay and anti-Black slurs.

“There were a lot of anti-gay statements and derogatory anti-Black statements,” Assistant Chief of the NYPD detective bureau Joseph Kenny said on Saturday. “There were a lot of people from the community acting like peacemakers.”

On Friday, 17-year-old Dmitriy Popov was arrested in connection to the killing and now faces charges of murder as a hate crime and criminal possession of a weapon after he turned himself in to police through his lawyers. This was after he tried to evade law enforcement for a week by shaving his head and turning off his phone.

GOP donor Anton Lazzaro sentenced to 21 years for sex trafficking minors in Minnesota

GOP donor Anton Lazzaro sentenced to 21 years for sex trafficking minors in Minnesota

A formerly well-connected GOP donor convicted of giving teenage girls gifts, alcohol and money in exchange for sex was sentenced Wednesday to 21 years in prison on sex trafficking charges.

Anton “Tony” Lazzaro was found guilty in March by a federal jury of seven counts involving “commercial sex acts” with five girls ages 15 and 16 in 2020, when Lazzaro was 30. The charges carried mandatory minimum sentences of 10 years with a maximum of life in prison.

Prosecutors had requested a 30-year sentence for Lazzaro. They likened Lazzaro to financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was arrested in 2019 on federal charges accusing him of paying underage girls for massages and then abusing them at his homes in Florida and New York. The defense asked for no more than 10 years.
