If the police and FBI are not going to protect public officials. . . .

from these MAGA Republican goons then why don't we

1. Form and promote a legal defense and protection fund to give any and all public officials means to pay for personal security protection and file civil law suits against these individuals.

2. Form and promote local groups of retired police officers funded by this fund to be available to respond to threats when police response is not forthcoming.

3 Publish on social media the names and addresses of known individuals who have threatened public officials

Tired of doing nothing while watching democracy and our way of life being destroyed by Republicans.

The only way to shut down the big lie is (2)

You shutdown the big lie by immediately saying. "That a lie and the reason they are lying is they want to (pick your favorite) destroy democracy, eat your young - it does not matter.

WHAT YOU DO NOT DO IS TRY TO DEFEND THE LIE. YOU DO NOT EVER, EVER, EVER USE THEIR WORDS, I.E. CRITICAL RACE THEORY, SOCIALISM, WOKE ETC.

This is politics 101 and we fail to practice it.

Thankful for the Biden Boom

1. Almost 6 million jobs were created just between January and October;
2 the unemployment rate is now just 4.6%.
3. The quit rate, the standard barometer of workers' optimism, hit an all-time record high of 2.9% in August.
4. Average earnings are up 3.5% this year and 4.9% annually, to $31 per hour.
5. Checking accounts are 50% fatter than they were pre-pandemic, while the bottom 50% of the population now has more than $3 trillion in household wealth — up 32% just in the first half of this year, and up 55% from before the pandemic.
6. Stocks hit a new record high every day last week (and yesterday, too), and are up more than 30% year-t0-date.

8 Presidents were born in Virginia, the State that . . .

just elected a member of a political party dedicated to overthrowing the Constitution of the United States. If our Democratic leaders cannot defeat this obvious evil. we need new political leadership.

Joe Manchin is right

Because the Republican Party is "conservative" does that mean the Democratic Party has to be liberal.

The reason the Democratic Party has survived as the oldest political party in the world, is that it is a party that welcomes into its ranks ideas of all. That does not say it welcomes evil racists and those advocating the destruction of our constitutional democracy, The Democratic Party it is; however, a Party of process not a party dogma.

That is to say that unlike Republicans all ideas and policies, are not viewed only through the lens of any dogman such as conservatism. The Democratic Party debates and discusses all issues. Sometimes decisions are conservative (declare war on Japan) many times, because it is the right thing to do, for the majority of Americans Democratic policies and positions are progressive.

One rule shared by all political parties is a that arithmetic matters. No political party can survive if it does not act based on the belief of the majority of its members. And regardless of the morality of the issue, unless the political party does the political hard work to convince a solid majority American's to vote in support of the Party, there is no majority political power in the state and federal legislatures that can result in action.

Unfortunately, we progressives have not done the work to deliver our message to the majority of Americans. Yes, we won in 2020. (by only 40,000 votes we secured the Presidency) ( 47% of white women still voted for Trump) We do not have a majority in the US Senate. It is 50 Republicans, 48 Democratic with 2 independents that usually vote Democratic. We LOST seats in the House and Bidens approval rating is under 50% and getting worse. We progressive want to beat our chests and declare victory and proclaim power that we do not have. This is just political malpractice and the result of our political failure could mean the end of our Democracy.

it is not Manchin's job to promote the progressive agenda. It is the responsibility of progressives. And we are not doing a very good job. We need to get back out in the street. Do a better job with social media. Press the media to support our issues. Go to the school board meetings. Do our own march in the streets. Demonstrate our political power. Unit behind Biden.

SAVE AMERICA.

You know Joe.

Joe Scarborough asks.

"What has twisted the minds of these people so much that they are so desperate to stop doctors and nurses from saving their fellow Americans’ lives?"

Well, you know Joe. They are Republicans. You know the people you used to encourage to hate Democrats and "wink, wink" hate black people. The people you used to tell were smart and the people you used to tell that the government and everyone else was dumb. You know Joe. Your friends.

Please explain to me why we are concerned about the way we left Afghanistan

Hate to be callous, but
How many Americans have been killed by the Taliban since this "botched" withdrawal occurred?
If there were only 75,000 mostly old ill equipped Taliban men that over ran the country, why could not the "85,000" interpreters and "friends" and the 330,000 well equipped security forces not defeat them?
And why are we responsible for these people. Is over 2,000 American lives and a couple of trillion dollars not enough?
Were we to take the whole country with us when we left?
It has been over a year since we announced we were leaving. If it was so easy for the Taliban to flee the country, why couldn't these people have done the same?
People are also saying that if we do not help these people, no one will cooperate with us in the future. Please prove that. For money and just a "chance" of coming to America, people will do a lot of things. Maybe by saying, "Look you can work with us, but do not expect us to take you with us when we leave. We are here to help you make your country better, not to make you a US citizen if you work with us. You should be doing all you can to win the hearts and minds of your fellow citizens so when we leave you will be safe." If that was the message to these people in the beginning, maybe they and there fellow citizens would have been more motivated to defend their country from the Taliban instead of fleeing their country when we leave.

My Alexa defaulted to Fox News !*#*

I am offended to hear this when I get a daily Flash Briefing. This means millions of people receive right wing lies that are detrimental to our democracy promoted by Amazon. Many will not know how or bother to change. I have called their support number to complain. 877-375-9365. I encourage you to do the same If you have this problem, changing it is not an easy thing but can be done. To remove Fox and select another news organization.

Open the Alexa app .
Open More and select Settings.
Select Flash Briefing.
Select the toggle next to each news service you want to add to your Flash Briefing.

About Edwcraig

I was raised to be a right wing Republican. Born in South Carolina. Great grandson of a trial lawyer famous for defending whites on trial for lynching blacks. Strom Thurmond studied in his law firm. Mother dated Thurmond. Nephew of a KKK member. Late father and mother both Republicans. Sister active in Republican politics to this day. The University of South Carolina's political science department and its fraternities, of which I have a degree and membership respectively, are and have been ultra conservative. Lee Atwater was a college and post college drinking buddy. Served in the US Army. For eight years, I was a lobbyist for big oil. I also was an investment banker and I am now and have been a entrepreneur businessman in the financial technology area for the last 25 years. I am a white man and over 60. A church elder. I am in the 2%. To the surprise and disappointment of many people I know and in spite of all the odds, I am a staunch Democrat. I was Executive Director of the South Carolina Democratic Party under Don Fowler.
