Baltimore will no longer prosecute drug possession, prostitution and other low-level offenses

Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby says the city will no longer prosecute for prostitution, drug possession and other low-level offenses.

Mosby made the announcement on Friday following her office's one-year experiment in not prosecuting minor offenses to decrease the spread of Covid-19 behind bars.
"Today, America's war on drug users is over in the city of Baltimore. We leave behind the era of tough-on-crime prosecution and zero tolerance policing and no longer default to the status quo to criminalize mostly people of color for addiction, said Mosby in an official press release.

The experiment, known as The Covid Criminal Justice Policies, is an approach to crime developed with public health authorities. Instead of prosecuting people arrested for minor crimes like prostitution and public urination, the program dealt with those crimes as public health issues and work with community partners to help find solutions.

The program has led to decreases in the overall incarcerated Baltimore population by 18%, while violent and property crimes are down 20% and 36% respectively, according to the press release.
Mosby said her office will no longer prosecute the following offenses: drug and drug paraphernalia possession, prostitution, trespassing, minor traffic offense, open container violations, and urinating and defecating in public.

I'm not entirely sure about this approach (why are sex worker considered mental issues, for instance) but its hard to argue with numbers, though correlations doesn't automatically mean causation. Does anyone else have any thought on the subject? I'm quite interested in hearing what members that happen to live in Baltimore think of this change.

This is a really trivial matter in relation to the events, but it stuck so please allow me to vent.

If I understood Christopher Martin's testimony today, he took issue with the alleged counterfeit 20 dollar bill due at least in part due to the store's policy on counterfeit money. It seems kinda messed up. "We're going to take any counterfeit bills you accept out of your pay, but we're not going to even offer in training in how to spot them."

I haven't worked cashier positions when I've worked retail. Is that typical? It strikes me as very unfair for what is quite often a minimum wage/low paying entry level job.

My podiatrist is such a Republican. But you don't argue politics

with a man that is debriding a burn wound on your leg with a razor.

But I did some insight on what Biden's press conference looked like on Earth-2. A tired addled old man that needed note to keep track of the answers he'd been given in advance or otherwise he got lost and babbled.

And did you see how how he couldn't even walk a flight of stairs?

Has there been any hint of when DeJoy might be getting his walking papers?

He's still doing his level best to 'fix' problems that don't exist (the US mail is not a profit driven organization, he doesn't appear to grasp that). The slowed mail is harming people and businesses and appears to be widening in scope. It was barely noticeable in my area, now mail that used to take a 2-3 days is taking up to two weeks.

It may be required to break the filibuster to actually get ANYTHING done with the Senate as is, but

How bad do you think things could it get if/when the Republican regain the majority, taking into account who vindictive they are, not to mention they're general lack of concern for governance or the needs and desires of their constituents and long memories for being stymied?

Edited for clarity.

Is there some reason behind the hostility and the violence against Asians is so focused on women

and the elderly? Or is it the short and sweet clear answer: Most of the a**holes doing this crap are sniveling cowards?

If you don't normally file a return (low income) is there some additional step(s) you need to take

in order to receive the $1,400 stimulus payment?
