In some ways 2021 has been a very good year

- Joe Biden became president.

That in itself was the best thing that could possibly happen, after four years of hell. A grownup was finally in charge of the nation. We no longer needed to dread the news or avoid the front page of the paper fearing what the slobfather had done now. Joe was at the desk. He would reverse most of the bad things done by his predecessor. He would tackle Covid-19, unlike TFG. My anxiety level went way, way down. I felt I could breathe again.

- Bonus: Jill Biden

- Vaccines against Covid 19 became widely available

- The treasonous coup attempt of January 6 failed.

- Arrests, investigations and prosecutions of those involved in the failed coup have started.

- There were some period of time between Covid mutations in which we got a taste of freedom.

- The $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan was adopted and signed

- The $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure package was passed and signed into law.

- The president has seen 40 federal judges confirmed so far

- Biden ended a ban on openly transgender people serving in the U.S. military

- Biden ordered a moratorium on federal executions

I can't possibly list all the good things that have happened this past year. But please ADD YOUR OWN.

Think about how you felt a year ago.
Remember when we began to feel hope again, after President Biden was sworn in.

He better watch out, he better not fly

because he'll be nabbed
by the FBI

Slobfather is going to jail

He knows they've been indicting
he knows they're getting close
He knows that he's been very bad
and now he knows he's toast

He better watch out,
He better not fly
because he'll be nabbed
by the FBI

Slobfather is going to jail

He's making a list
of who's cutting deals
and sending them hints
they better not squeal

But it's not going to work now
They've got the evidence
and soon he will be sitting
behind a prison fence

He better watch out,
He better not fly
because he'll be nabbed
by the FBI

Slobfather is going to jail

Dedicated to malaise, whose post inspired it

Wishing you Yuletide blessings

The Shortest Day by Susan Cooper

And so the Shortest Day came and the year died
And everywhere down the centuries of the snow-white world
Came people singing, dancing,
To drive the dark away.
They lighted candles in the winter trees;
They hung their homes with evergreen;
They burned beseeching fires all night long
To keep the year alive.
And when the new year’s sunshine blazed awake
They shouted, reveling.
Through all the frosty ages you can hear them
Echoing behind us—listen!
All the long echoes, sing the same delight,
This Shortest Day,
As promise wakens in the sleeping land:
They carol, feast, give thanks,
And dearly love their friends,
And hope for peace.
And now so do we, here, now,
This year and every year.
Welcome, Yule!

Yuletide blessings to everyone!
