The disgusting hypocrisy of the retiring GOP senators.

There is going to be almost a record number of retiring senators in coming 2-4 years, but most will still vote not guilty. They won't vote that way because they believe he is innocent. They will retire very financially comfortable, they have probably amassed quite a bit of money semi-legally. But the truth is even though they know know a not guilty verdict might harm our republic, they don't want to be ostracized by people who also don't particularly love Trump. They can retire and enjoy their grandchildren and live a good life, but they want to still be on the Republican gravy train - corporate boards, think tanks, the respect that is given an elder statesman. They want to feel relevant. In years to come they may be in history books as complicit scum politicians, but they want to feel important in their remaining years. They want to have all the perks and respect of the scum of the earth.

Thank you to whoever sent me hearts.

It's been years since I celebrated Valentine's day at all and it was so sweet to receive them.

I know the secret defense strategy.

They're going to bore everyone to death. The only laugh we get is defense drinking water.

I should have started a drinking game, but too late now.

Should have had a drink every time I heard the defense say egregious. Other repetitive words I could have added, too, such as respectfully (when they don't mean it). Wew.

All he's proving is Trump has been doing impeachable things.

He was doing rotten things ever since he was elected. Just because we've succeeded 2 times in no way proves Trump is innocent. Boy, does he have boring lawyers.

Pretty sure Trumpo isn't watching this right now.

His attention span isn't long enough when his name isn't brought up in every other sentence. I'm totally bored myself, but it's because Castor isn't making a lot of sense and is very hard to follow.

Baltimore Sun's Zurawik on "The Equalizer" reboot following tonight's Super Bowl.

I don't know how to link the whole article, but David Zurawik starts out he doesn't get excited about network reboots of previously successful series, but when he watched Queen Latifah in this one he liked what he saw. Not up to Denzel Washington's (swoon) movie version of the series but Queen Latifah makes it work. Interesting, also, when he described his reaction to watching the coverage of Officer Brian Sicknick's services at the capital.

His final paragraph: "I hope the producers and writers will take the time to make McCall a more complex character in subsequent episodes. But I am satisfied with what I have seen in the pilot. I'll take a moral character anywhere I can find her on television these days."

"I was allowed to believe." Why did she say it this way?

Notice the weird phrasing by MTG. She takes no responsibility for even what she says she believed. She was allowed to believe. Like she would never have had those weird beliefs except by accident or something. This wasn't really her? If she disavows it now, what does she really believe? That phrasing really bothers me.

BIDEN LEARNED ONE GOOD LESSON FROM TRUMP AND LEARNED IT WELL.

One thing Biden learned from Trump was publicizing his actions early and openly. Trump was shameless, of course, because he publicized outright lies. One of the things Trump did was follow the Bannon theory of "flood the zone with shit." Well, Biden has always been good on TV so every single day he is out there explaining things with that calm, earnest voice and face. He's flooding the zone with facts and hope and good will. He's flipped the story on Trump's "Promises Made, Promises Kept." He's keeping promises and telling the truth. Where Trump was touting his Muslim ban and ramping up his hateful policies, Biden has been making order out of the chaos. He has an excellent team who also don't hide. His favorables have come up in the past week not just because of the terrible things we are still finding out about January 6, they've come up because he shows he is actually doing something.

Not everything is going to come up roses, but the American Public has become so used to an out there president, the RW would probably use him quietly working in the WH against him as "hiding," as they did when he didn't actively campaign with rallies. Well, he's not hiding now but I think the Republicans wish he would.
