if the GOP wants to means-test for social security benefits, why not means test for school vouchers

If you don't need a voucher to afford private school, you don't get one.

It is completely your choice to send your kids to private school. And if you can afford it without a voucher then why should you get one.

Why do people assume that a voucher is going to cover the full cost of private school tuition

If your voucher is worth $5000, but private tuition is $10,000 - you still probably can't afford that private school.

However, the wealthy family that was paying for private school at $10,000 no problem now gets a $5000 voucher discount that they didn't need.

And here, we have shifted tax money from public to private schools, and blown a hole in public school funding that gets to be backfilled by the public (all the public - not just private school kids, who blew the hole). Either that or the school cuts teachers and services because it can't cut its fixed costs.

What am I missing here?

(Plus there are more costs connected to private school other than tuition, like meal plans, field trip fees, athletic fees, etc. Putting it out of reach of less well off families regardless of voucher.)

trump abuses the legal system, public infrastructure, without paying taxes

if you abuse the legal system as much as trump does, you should pay EXTRA taxes

taxpayers disproportionately foot the bill for his abusive litigation

just wanted to put that out there as another level of his grossness

Sanctions against trump and Habba are Joint&Several - meaning they can scratch eachother's eyes out

deciding which once of them is going to pay how much of the $1,000,000. **Now that is a conversation I want to hear.** trump screaming at Habba that she needs to pay it all is what I expect to be trump's opening position.

The Court can come at either one for the entire amount. It doesn't have to assess who should pay first, or who should pay what part. They are both liable for the full amount until the Court gets all $1,000,000.

The judge also said that he believes this is an amount that each can afford. And if they want to challenge that, they have 10 days to file a statement of net worth showing assets and liabilities with the court.
