TeamProg
TeamProg's JournalMTG hearing clearly shows that the obvious reason that MTG couldn't
simply and honestly say "No" to most of the questions is because she would be lying.
Who would have thought?
I personally do not think that the plaintiff's lawyer did a very good job. He could have pressed every "I don't recall
with a "So then, you are NOT denying that you were there or said that, correct?".
He only did that a handful of times.
That she was considered a hostile witness by the judge probably holds more weight than anything the plaintiff's lawyer got her to say during the hearing.
Manifest Destitute
Let's face it, as we dumb down our kids and divide citizens with outright lies of convenience about history, politics and race, and make up BS about the liberal education of arts and science turning kids gay and trans, much of our populace will end up confused, resentful, unedcated, unemployed, unhireable, poor, homeless, hateful and destitute.
The GOP and far right are manifesting this.
The tax which will be paid for the purpose of education is not more than the thousandth part of what
The tax which will be paid for the purpose of education is not more than the thousandth part of what will be paid to kings, priests, and nobles who will rise up among us if we leave the people in ignorance. -Thomas Jefferson, third US president, architect, and author (13 Apr 1743-1826)

Never been truer today.
This is one of the main reasons why the GQP WANTS to keep people uneducated, another is to keep people employed at cheap wage and stuck in their job they don't like. And there are more reasons as well.

USDA To Compensate Drought-Stricken Ranchers for Above Normal Costs to Haul Livestock to Forage
https://www.fsa.usda.gov/state-offices/California/news-releases/2022/usda-to-compensate-drought-stricken-ranchers-for-above-normal-costs-to-haul-livestock-to-forage-04082022-rel001?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery
Due to the persistent drought conditions in the West, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is offering additional relief through the Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees and Farm-raised Fish Program (ELAP) to help ranchers cover above normal costs of hauling livestock to forage or other grazing acres. This policy enhancement complements previously announced ELAP compensation for hauling feed to livestock. ELAP livestock and feed hauling assistance is retroactive for 2021 and will be available for losses in 2022 and subsequent years.
Stakeholder input matters. After we rolled out updated ELAP policy last year to help cover the cost of hauling feed to livestock, thankful producers across the country expressed their appreciation for the expanded assistance and made suggestions to further improve the program, said Zach Ducheneaux, FSA Administrator. The additional update we are announcing today to help ranchers cover above normal costs of hauling livestock to forage reflects our commitment to meet our producers needs, whenever we have the flexibility and authority to do so.
Unfortunately, drought conditions across the U.S. continue and, in many states, have worsened. In response, we continue to find ways to help livestock producers alleviate some of the financial strain, said Blong Xiong State Executive Director for FSA in California. This most recent ELAP program update recognizes that, for some ranchers, hauling livestock to forage rather than feed to livestock is easier and makes more sense financially.

WTF? These ranchers are a big part of the problem that's causing the DROUGHT!!

Madison Cawthorn's cocaine and orgy comments
CNN reporter Melanie Zanona subsequently reported that "members said that if [Cawthorn's remarks are] true, he needs to name names because otherwise it unfairly maligns the entire institution."
McCarthy, who hails from Bakersfield, reportedly promised to address the matter with Cawthorn.
It's not the first time McCarthy has allegedly had a testy meeting with his caucus. In November, McCarthy reportedly got into a "heated exchange" with Texas Rep. Chip Roy over 13 Republicans voting for a bipartisan infrastructure bill signed into law by President Joe Biden. At that same meeting, McCarthy had to address Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar tweeting an anime video that depicted him killing New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Cawthorn's comments have received widespread media attention. Some Democrats have also seized on the remarks, with California Rep. Ted Lieu tweeting, "Based on this interview of GOP Rep Madison Cawthorn, I just have to say, wow, the @HouseGOP Caucus is much wilder than I thought."

POLL: Come on DU'ers. VOTE - Permanent Daylight Savings or Permanent Standard Time??
In Calif, I personally do not need the evening to be light until almost 9pm in summer.
I'd also rather get the morning started soon after the sun comes up.
Nationwide I think the split is about 50/50.
What do we have here?

Covid-19 cases continue to rise in China's worst outbreak since Wuhan
Source: CNN
China reported thousands of new local Covid-19 cases Sunday amid the worst outbreak in the country since Wuhan in early 2020, according to the National Health Commission (NHC).
Health officials said 2,125 cases were reported across 58 cities in 19 of 31 mainland provinces, marking the fourth consecutive day China reported more than 1,000 daily local cases. More than 10,000 cases have been reported since the latest outbreak began in early March, the NHC said.
Saturday, the commission reported 3,122 local cases -- the highest number of daily infections since the Wuhan outbreak and the first time new cases have exceeded 3,000 in a day, NHC data showed.
Throughout the pandemic, China has adhered to a strict zero-Covid policy that aims to stamp out all outbreaks and chains of transmission using a combination of border controls, mass testing, quarantine procedures and lockdowns.
Two major Chinese cities -- northeastern industrial hub Changchun and southern economic hub Shenzhen -- are under lockdown, with more than 26 million residents forbidden from leaving their homes.
Public transport has also been suspended, as well as indoor dining, while all public venues excluding grocery stores and pharmacies have been closed, the authorities said.
Chinese officials have been under pressure to bring outbreaks under control and have been reprimanded by higher administrations for "poor performance" as cases grow.
China has dismissed at least 26 government officials this month in cities where outbreaks have occurred, including a mayor and a director of municipal health commission in Jilin province, and a vice mayor and a deputy director of the provincial police department in Guangdong.

Russian Standard, along with lesser-known vodka Green Mark, are one of the few alcohol brands
Russian Standard, along with lesser-known vodka Green Mark, are one of the few alcohol brands imported from Russia and sold in the United States. It's parent company, Roust International, is owned by Roustam Tariko, a Russian oligarch who also owns Russian Standard Bank. The alcohol company didn't immediately respond to CNN Business' request for comment.
These boycotts are largely symbolic because Russian-made vodka accounts for a very small percentage of the roughly $7 billion in annual vodka sales, according to the Distilled Spirits Council (DISCUS), a national trade organization that represents spirits makers.
Less than 1% of vodka consumed in the United States is produced in Russia. In fact, more than half of all vodka consumed domestically is actually made here, according to data from IWSR Drinks Market Analysis, a global firm that tracks alcohol sales.

The Ingredients that go into the making of a Conspiracy Theory
From an article I read months ago at Psychology Today, I think it was.
1. The DunningKruger effect is the cognitive bias whereby people with low ability at a task overestimate their ability. Some researchers also include in their definition the opposite effect for high performers: their tendency to underestimate their skills.
2. Apophenia is the tendency to perceive meaningful connections between unrelated things. The term was coined by psychiatrist Klaus Conrad in his 1958 publication on the beginning stages of schizophrenia. He defined it as "unmotivated seeing of connections [accompanied by] a specific feeling of abnormal meaningfulness". Other science sources explain that the brain came to specialize in meaning-making and pattern-finding. The brain has evolved in a dangerous environment where the ability to fill in the blanks conferred important survival advantages.
3. Confirmation bias is the tendency to search for, interpret, favor, and recall information in a way that confirms or supports one's prior beliefs or values.
Put these all together, in no specific order, and you've got one person or a group of people who once supplied with random non-facts can twist, bend, rationalize and spread any imagined idea, event or plan as a real thing.
Anyone else see that article? I did a quick search and found similar articles but the exact one that I read.
