Israel used U.S.-supplied white phosphorus in Lebanon attack

Source: WaPo

DHEIRA, Lebanon — Israel used U.S.-supplied white phosphorus munitions in an October attack in southern Lebanon that injured at least nine civilians in what a rights group says should be investigated as a war crime, according to a Washington Post analysis of shell fragments found in a small village.

A journalist working for The Post found remnants of three 155-millimeter artillery rounds fired into Dheira, near the border of Israel, which incinerated at least four homes, residents said. The rounds, which eject felt wedges saturated with white phosphorous that burns at high temperatures, produce billowing smoke to obscure troop movements as it falls haphazardly over a wide area. Its contents can stick to skin, causing potentially fatal burns and respiratory damage, and its use near civilian areas could be prohibited under international humanitarian law.

Lot production codes found on the shells match the nomenclature used by the U.S. military to categorize domestically produced munitions, which show they were made by ammunition depots in Louisiana and Arkansas in 1989 and 1992. The light green color and other markings — like “WP” printed on one of the remnants — are consistent with white phosphorous rounds, according to arms experts.

I certainly don't like my tax dollars being used for what are considered 'war crimes'.

Hey! There are WAAAAY too many accustions of anti-semitism here. Is Sen. Bernie Sanders an anti-Semite?

Even ONE is too many.

Is Sen. Bernie Sanders an anti-Semite?

On funding Ukraine and Israel.

“””
The vote was 49-51, with Republicans voting against moving forward with the bill, along with Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., who caucuses with Democrats. Sanders has said he opposes giving aid to Israel unconditionally unless Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government changes its practice, which he has called “immoral” and “in violation of international law.”
"""""""

Are Democratic Reps. AOC and Tlaib are anti-semites?

Do you think that Netanyahu’s methods are helping the hostage situation?

Flooding Hamas tunnels could harm Gaza's freshwater for generations, warns academic

Experts call on defense establishment to carefully weigh environmental impacts of reported plan to flush terrorists out of vast underground network

Environmental experts called on the defense establishment Tuesday to carefully weigh the long-term environmental implications of reported plans to flood the immense network of tunnels in the Gaza Strip with seawater to flush the terrorists out.

Quoting US officials, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday that the Israeli army last month set up five large water pumps near the al-Shati refugee camp in Gaza City, which are capable of flooding the tunnels within weeks by pumping thousands of cubic meters of water per hour into them.

Under normal circumstances, rain falls to earth and percolates down into subterranean storage areas, or aquifers. This groundwater is pumped up into wells to supply drinking water.

But if several million cubic meters were pumped into the tunnels, and seeped into the aquifer, “the negative impact on groundwater quality would last for several generations, depending on the amount that infiltrates into the subsurface,” he said.

Great long term solution! NOT.

Foreign Aid and remarks from Bernie Sanders

From: https://www.democraticunderground.com/100218491830
25 mins, worth the watch.

In the video link above, as per Bernie Sanders, the U.S. sends 3.8 BILLION per year! (More than TWICE as much as any other nation)
He also lays out many conditions for continued aid to Israel such as a Palestinian State and for Israel to adhere to international law.
No one can convince me that Bernie does not know what he's talking about.
Some here have posted varying non-truths in direct contrast to the facts the Sen. Sanders talks about.

From another U.S. news source.
Countries That Received the Most Foreign Aid From the U.S. in 2021:

Israel ($3.3B)
Jordan ($1.6B)
Afghanistan ($1.4B) ( I'm sure this one has changed!)
Ethiopia ($1.39B)
Egypt ($1.29B)
Yemen ($1.04B)
South Sudan ($954M)
Congo (Kinshasa) ($825M)
Somalia ($790M)
Syria ($782M)

Panthers fire Frank Reich after 1-10 start to first season in Carolina

https://www.nfl.com/news/panthers-firing-frank-reich-after-1-10-start-to-first-season-in-carolina

Frank Reich's tenure in Carolina lasted just 11 games.

The Panthers fired the head coach on Monday after a 1-10 start to the 2023 season, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported, per sources informed of the situation.

Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor takes over as the interim head coach, per Rapoport.

The club later confirmed the move, announcing senior assistant Jim Caldwell will be a special advisor to offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, who will resume play-calling.

"I met with Coach Reich this morning and informed him that he will not continue as head coach of the Carolina Panthers," owner David Tepper said in a statement on Monday. "I want to thank Frank for his dedication and service, and we wish him well. Effective immediately, Special Teams Coordinator Chris Tabor will serve as our interim head coach. Senior Assistant Jim Caldwell will be a special advisor to Offensive Coordinator Thomas Brown, who will take over play calling duties."

For years, Netanyahu propped up Hamas. Now it’s blown up in our faces

By Tal Schneider 8 October 2023, 3:58 pm

For years, the various governments led by Benjamin Netanyahu took an approach that divided power between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank — bringing Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to his knees while making moves that propped up the Hamas terror group.
The idea was to prevent Abbas — or anyone else in the Palestinian Authority’s West Bank government — from advancing toward the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Thus, amid this bid to impair Abbas, Hamas was upgraded from a mere terror group to an organization with which Israel held indirect negotiations via Egypt, and one that was allowed to receive infusions of cash from abroad.

Hamas was also included in discussions about increasing the number of work permits Israel granted to Gazan laborers, which kept money flowing into Gaza, meaning food for families and the ability to purchase basic products.

Israeli officials said these permits, which allow Gazan laborers to earn higher salaries than they would in the enclave, were a powerful tool to help preserve calm.

Most of the time, Israeli policy was to treat the Palestinian Authority as a burden and Hamas as an asset. Far-right MK Bezalel Smotrich, now the finance minister in the hardline government and leader of the Religious Zionism party, said so himself in 2015.
