If it gets authorization, molnupiravir, which is designed to introduce errors into the genetic code of the virus, would be the first oral antiviral medication for COVID-19.
Merck and partner Ridgeback Biotherapeutics said they plan to seek U.S. emergency use authorization for the pill as soon as possible and to make regulatory applications worldwide.
"An oral antiviral that can impact hospitalization risk to such a degree would be game changing," said Amesh Adalja, senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security.
Note: read the article. The clinical studies are so successful they've been requested to stop the trials and go straight to approval under emergency use.

The rally was permitted... gatherings near the Capitol were also granted permits.

To summarize... next time a politician brags about jacking up the marginal rate on people who are paid a salary... by like 3%... slap them (figuratively)
I agree with the UK Wealth Tax Commission, a one time larger Wealth Tax and annual Wealth Tax payments. And YES (Mark Cuban hates this one) tax them on the value of their stock portfolio on a random date of the year.

WASHINGTON – Today Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland announced the formation of a new Missing & Murdered Unit (MMU) within the Bureau of Indian Affairs Office of Justice Services (BIA-OJS) to provide leadership and direction for cross-departmental and interagency work involving missing and murdered American Indians and Alaska Natives. The MMU will help put the full weight of the federal government into investigating these cases and marshal law enforcement resources across federal agencies and throughout Indian country.
A task force on Missing and Murdered American Indians and Alaska Natives — Operation Lady Justice (OLJ) — was formed in 2019 to pursue these unresolved cases. Today’s announcement builds on that work by designating new leadership and support positions, including a Unit Chief responsible for stakeholder collaboration, continued policy development, and overall performance of the unit. The Department is also designating new positions with existing federal funding to support the investigative needs of the MMU, including the collection and analysis of performance data and coordination of services with the families of victims.
A question about potentially abusive men...
Why is it that the wrong bumper sticker can get one fired, a bad word on Facebook can leave you friendless, a statue can draw the ire of an entire town, the wrong neighborhood can leave you without access to friends from the "other side of the tracks"...
But women (men too) FREQUENTLY find themselves in abusive and potentially abusive relationships with class A Assholes with both families knowing about the issues and it's met with acceptance or at least apathy.

$5 Trillion in spending is nuts, fiscally irresponsible... and this may be the perfect time to do it
Normally... in a typical year in the United States, in a typical year in the world the very thought of blowing through $5T in new spending would be considered irresponsible and downright stupid by most thinking people...
But this isn't a typical time... you see, because of COVID-19 most countries on the planet have spent tons of money. You see... usually you don't blow up your budget because it will risk harming the value of the dollar and the reputation and good standing of the American economy.
But in COVID-19 days... I expect we're going to see the printers running 24/7 in MANY countries and for US to run our printers at double speed, I don't see much risk. In other words, COVID-19 may be the PERFECT TIME to spend a buttload of cash.
1) We're looking at a possible/probable recession in 2022. Spending will counter that...
2) No downside in international economic consequences
3) Inflation needs to be tempered with increased incomes, increased hours at work and overtime.
4) Further Gov't intervention may be necessary.
Now we wait on D.C....
I do have one suggestion, though... fund the spending at least partially through a EU-Style VAT tax... call it a 20 year COVID tax. EU style meaning there are exemptions, of course...
