If you're going to alert on me, at least be able to make the argument that they aren't.

Sen. Joe Manchins political action committee experienced a surge in corporate contributions this fall, ahead of his decision to oppose and apparently kill President Joe Bidens $1.75 trillion social safety net and climate change bill.
Manchins leadership PAC, Country Roads, received 17 contributions from corporations in October and 19 in November, according to a CNBC analysis of Federal Election Commission filings. None of the four months prior to October saw saw as many corporate contributions.
The White House unveiled its framework for the bill, dubbed the Build Back Better Act, in October. It included about $550 billion to battling climate change by investing in green technologies. Manchin, a conservative Democrat who has profited from his links to the coal industry, opposed key climate provisions in the legislation.
In November, the Country Roads PAC received corporate contributions ranging from $2,500 to $5,000. Donors included financial giants such as American Express and Goldman Sachs, aerospace and defense leader Lockheed Martin, health insurance companies UnitedHealth Group and Blue Cross Blue Shield, and natural gas company CNX Resources. The PAC raised over $110,000 in November.

A tip of the hat to Pramila Jayapal
Few has been more supportive of the BBB act and President Joe Biden, despite being a member of that "awful" progressive wing.
It's sad to watch Republican Un-Democrats like Joe Manchin sink our country.

If Bob Dole were still minority leader....
.....he'd be acting just like Cocaine Mitch is now. The guy was still blowing Trump on his death bed.
Fuck him.
This Story Makes Me Feel Completely Hopeless About the Future of This Country(by Charles Pierce)
The folks at Reuters have poured quite a lot of time and effort into the task of making me feel completely hopeless about the future of the country, and I hope theyre happy about it, damn them.In Arizona, a stay-at-home dad and part-time Lyft driver told the states chief election officer she would hang for treason. In Utah, a youth treatment center staffer warned Colorados election chief that he knew where she lived and watched her as she slept. In Vermont, a man who says he works in construction told workers at the state election office and at Dominion Voting Systems that they were about to die. This might be a good time to put a f‑‑‑‑‑‑ pistol in your f‑‑‑‑‑‑ mouth and pull the trigger, the man shouted at Vermont officials in a thick New England accent last December. Your days are f‑‑‑‑‑‑ numbered.
The three had much in common. All described themselves as patriots fighting a conspiracy that robbed Donald Trump of the 2020 election. They are regular consumers of far-right websites that embrace Trumps stolen-election falsehoods. And none have been charged with a crime by the law enforcement agencies alerted to their threats.

Political newcomer defeats incumbent for Des Moines City Council
https://www.iowapublicradio.org/ipr-news/2021-11-02/political-newcomer-defeats-incumbent-for-des-moines-city-councilThe crowd roared at a café in downtown Des Moines after unofficial results on the Polk County auditors website revealed Indira Sheumaker had defeated incumbent Bill Gray by 542 votes for Ward 1 (which covers much of the north and west sides of the city). She defeated the other candidate Marcus Coenen by a 1,594 votes.
Sheumaker herself walked around the café, hugging anyone who crossed her path.
Sheumaker became interested in city council while organizing and participating in racial justice movements last year with the Black Liberation Movement. She said she wants to make sure she isn't intimidating in her new role.
"I want to be the kind of leader who is part of the community, the kind of leader people can talk to you. I can't be coming from the protests and saying like, mmm, don't show up in my lawn. I already told all these people: if you don't like what I do, you better be banging on my door with 500 people on my lawn," Sheumaker yelled over the celebratory music.
"By the way, most people agree that the country has gone to the left over the past several years"
Do you agree?
Will Joe Manchin endorse Senate Democrats in the next election?
He endorsed Susan Collins, which I though was a hanging offense on DU to be a Democrat not endorsing Democrats. But apparently not with certain people here. Some people just love them some Exxon Joe Manchin. They get giddy every time he meets with the POTUS who he apparently doesn't like very much.

He will lose his power if he does and the 50/50 split becomes 51/49 or 52/48. And who can blame him for not wanting that???? It' allllllll good, right? Just playin' the game.
