Across-the-Desk's JournalAcross the Desk - S6:E16 (Ryan Walters vs. The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin)
This week on Across the Desk, Kit talks about how Ryan Walters wants to send Oklahoma teachers to 'Patriot Boot Camp' where they will be indoctrinated into an ultra-conservative, evangelical Christian, private college program from Hillsdale College. And how their 'every founder was an evangelicals Christian' doesn't quite stack up when you read Benjamin Franklin's Autobiography. Which Kit suggest every Democrat/Liberal/Progressive read. His stories will parallel a lot of we champion as Progressive today. He was a 'Deist' or claimed to be. He was the father of our library system, the post office as well as paved roads, police, fire and public schools and the taxes to pay for it.. And to top it all off he was vegan by the age of 19. I mean, come on? Vegan at 19. And a principled one too? You don't get more Liberal than that... It's all in his book The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin. It is a free eBook and the app to read it with is a free download too. It is a must read for any Democrat. If you read this book it will give you the energy you need to show up at the polls and be proud to be Liberal/Progressive American....

ICYMI: S6:E15 (Sen. James Lankford - Drug Prices are too Low)
This week on Across the Desk, Kit talks about the radical conservative extremist, Sen. James Lankford, and his push to dismantle any policy signed into law by President Biden including parts of the Inflation Reduction Act where Medicare recipients will be capped at a maximum expense for the year and Medicare can negotiate drug prices. Yeah, he's really against that. And Sen. Lankford likes it so much he's made it a prominent piece on his own website... Taking it to grandma so he can 'take it to the libs' is not only his political strategy, but a great show case of those 'Crappy Conservative Values'...

Okla. governor mocks Democratic challenger for accurately noting state's crime rate
So lets talk about facts: The fact is, the rates of violent crime are higher in Oklahoma under your watch than in New York or California, said Hofmeister, who is Oklahomas superintendent of public instruction. Thats a fact.
Stitt interrupted twice to protest that it wasnt true.
Well have that fact-checked by the Frontier, said the moderator, Tres Savage of the nonprofit news outlet NonDoc, referring to the routine fact checks conducted by another independent media site.
What was not shown at the debate was that Hofmeister was correct. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Oklahoma has a homicide rate of 9 deaths per 100,000, compared with Californias rate of 6.1 and New Yorks rate of 4.7.
