This week on Across the Desk, Kit talks about the Censure of state Legislator, Mauree Turner (D), who identifies as black, Muslim, and non-binary using the pronouns They/Them. Well, they have been formally censured in the Oklahoma House of Representatives for 'harboring a fugitive', but there is so much more to the story that that.. And when you look at the antics of (R)s who have actually broken the law, two (R)s are looking at felony charges! And another who (Jay Stegall) was 'talked to' about threatening the Mayor of Yukon 3 years ago and using the power of his office to coerce the City Council. That was the extent of his 'censure'.. Which reeks of hypocrisy and power grabbing by an already power corrupted and power hungry GOP....

This week on Across the Desk, Kit talks about all the ways the GOP are attacking public education, the books, the materials, marginalized kids, and especially teachers... From vitriol over DEI to bills that ban sex education, not even an opt out, or even an opt in! And another that if passed into law will fine teachers $10,000 if they teach anything that goes against a students religious beliefs.. Climate change? The earth being over 6,000 years old, or even that we are not the center of the universe? Could get you big fine if you are a teacher.. All this, and more! In this weeks episode...

S7:E7 (Special Guest OK House Minority Whip - Rep. Mickey Dollens)
This week on Across the Desk, Kit welcomes special guest OK House Minority Whip, Representative Mickey Dollens. We talked about two of his bills that got voted out of committee that will go on to the floor of the House. As well as 2 others that didn't make it, like Ranked Choice Voting. We also talked a little about Mickey's background and the general theater that happens at the State Capitol.
