I'm with Peter Dinklage on this one

Disney’s slate of live-action remakes has included “Cinderella,” “The Jungle Book” and “Beauty and the Beast,” and coming soon is Marb Webb’s live-action reimagining of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” Webb, best known for helming “500 Days of Summer” and Andrew Garfield’s “Spider-Man” films, has cast “West Side Story” breakout Rachel Zegler in the title role and Gal Gadot as the villainous Evil Queen. Not everyone is too thrilled with idea of remaking “Snow White,” most notably Peter Dinklage. The Emmy winner guested on Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast this week and criticized remaking “Snow White” due to the fairytale’s “fucking backwards” depiction of dwarfs.

“There’s a lot of hypocrisy going on,” Dinklage said. “Literally no offense to anyone, but I was a little taken aback when they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White. But you’re still telling the story of ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.’ Take a step back and look at what you’re doing there. It makes no sense to me."

Dear suits at Hollywood. Yes we want diversity in entertainment. We especially don't like white washing BIPOC with white actors for BIPOC roles. That's bad. But you aren't doing BIPOC any favors inserting them into a European fable especially when the titular character is literally named SNOW WHITE and then to add insult to injury inserting stereotypical depictions of those with Dwarfism. BIPOC want their own fables, stories and sagas turned into film. It shouldn't be a European's only club. Its just a slap in the face when BIPOC are shoehorned into traditionally European stories. It tells BIPOC that their fables and stories aren't good enough, but we will let a Latina play a white girl who dances and sings with exploited midgets. Gross.
