I never have been the brightest bulb in the light fixture, but what I can't wrap my mind around is their insistence on dictating how everyone needs to live their life. Who are they to tell me what to do with my own brief existence here on this little marble in the universe? If you don't believe in abortion, then don't get one; if you don't approve of drag shows, then don't go to one; if a certain book is offensive to you, then don't read it. To me it's not rocket science. Just saying...

Smoke and mirrors

Permit me to pose a question here. Do fiscal deficits really matter? It is my understanding that the federal government has run a deficit every fiscal year since 1970 (with four exceptions as I recall) and yet here we are in 2023 doing just fine.
So is the periodic hand wringing over the deficit just smoke and mirrors to either justify or oppose proposed spending bills, or am I missing something here?

I am a lifelong resident of Texas, and as you probably well know, we have a "wild west" mentality here that is now dominating our state politics. And with the US having more civilian gun ownership per capita than anywhere else in the world, I am not optimistic that there is an answer. But just like you, I wish somebody out there would jump into the conversation with some positive and constructive input. Just sayin...

I am presently studying Spanish

and totally agree that it is much more user friendly than English. For me it has a symmetry and uniformity lacking in English.
