WOW, You Said A Mouthful... 'had simply gotten too weird'

Gonna post both the RawStory article, and the Vanity Fair article, BUT it was this (in bold italics) that got my head swimming:

Popular conservative's column dropped after complaint he 'had simply gotten too weird' - RawStory

The American Conservative (TAC) is cutting senior editor Rod Dreher's column after 12 years of success, Vanity Fair is reporting.

Per Vanity Fair, according to two sources familiar with the matter, the column's extensive stint — described as one of the most bizarre diatribes in opinion journalism — came to an end after "one particular reader" believed Dreher's posts "had simply gotten too weird."

Vanity Fair reports:

That disgruntled reader was Howard Ahmanson Jr., the heir to a California banking fortune and the sole benefactor of Dreher's six-figure salary at TAC, which is published by American Ideas Institute, a nonprofit. This unique funding arrangement—a single donor choosing to cover one writer's entire salary—was paired with an even more unusual editorial arrangement: Dreher was allowed to publish directly on TAC's site without any revisions or legal oversight, according to the two sources.

Trump is facing an 'amazing legal avalanche' starting this week: former prosecutor - RawStory

Appearing on MSNBC early Sunday morning, a former federal prosecutor pointed to reports that Donald Trump is likely headed for an indictment in Manhattan based on a request to testify before a grand jury and that all of his legal problems are coming to a head at approximately the same time.

Speaking with MSNBC fill-in host Julian Castro, former U.S. Attorney Cynthia Alksne explained that the former president is faced with an "amazing legal avalanche" that could bury him.

Asked about the Manhattan grand jury looking into Trump's paying hush money to adult performer Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election, Alksne stated, "It does seem to me that an indictment there is imminent. There is a confluence of all these events that is overwhelming right now."

"We have an indictment that may be coming out of New York, we have an indictment in Fulton County that looks like it is coming, we have the E. Jean Carroll case to be tried in April, and we have the Dominion suit which has a lot to do with Trump and lies — it's an amazing legal avalanche on the shoulders of Trump right this minute."

You KNOW It's Bad When...

Jeffrey Epstein dumped Trump when he realized he was a 'crook': Epstein brother

Accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, who was photographed in the past partying with Donald Trump, stopped "hanging out" with Trump when he realized he "was a crook," his brother told Business Insider.

According to Mark Epstein, Trump and Jeffrey Epstein were friends for years. But Jeffrey Epstein said in an unaired interview with former White House adviser Steve Bannon seen by his brother that he cut ties with Trump because of his concerns, Business Insider reported Saturday.

Bannon sent Jeffrey Epstein a Dropbox link to a clip of the interview, which Epstein forwarded to his brother in 2019, according to Mark. The link is no longer active, Epstein's brother told Business Insider.

Jeffrey Epstein was arrested in 2019 on federal sex-trafficking charges and died of an apparent suicide in a Manhattan jail while awaiting trial. He was suspected of raping scores of young women, many of them minors, and providing them to other men. His long-time companion Ghislaine Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for helping Epstein locate and sexually abuse underage girls for more than a decade.

Desperate woman,18, stuck on car roof as flood waters rose is dramatically rescued - DailyMail

An 18-year-old woman was stranded for an hour on top of her submerged vehicle as California continues to be drenched in heavy rain.

Lizbeth Hernandez had to be rescued at Casserly Creek after flood waters carried her truck off Paulsen Road in Watsonville, submerging the vehicle eight feet down. The young woman, who cannot swim, stood on top of her vehicle shivering as she waited for rescued.

She was transported back to solid ground on a surfboard-like device and she was seen crying as rescuers walked her up a roadway to higher ground.

Boebert announces she’ll be a 36-year-old grandmother when her 17-year-old son’s partner gives birth - DenverPost

And...

Boebert staffers on Friday confirmed the announcement. Breaking from a meeting for an interview, Boebert verified her son and his girlfriend are not married and declined to reveal the age of the girlfriend, other than to say she’s over 14. (Colorado’s age of consent is 17, with exceptions allowing unmarried consensual sex when partners are within four years of the same age.)

How a civil war erupted at Fox News after the 2020 election - NPR

The aftermath of the 2020 presidential election sparked a civil war within Fox News, as the network that had spent years building record profits and ratings by catering to fans of then-President Donald Trump saw millions of those viewers peel away.

In private notes to one another, Fox's top stars spat fire at their reporting colleagues who debunked Trump's claims of election fraud, even as they gave those allegations no credence. "We are officially working for an organization that hates us," said prime-time host Laura Ingraham.

Reporters said they were being punished simply for doing their jobs. One producer told colleagues he was quitting because he could not justify working for Fox anymore.

And the network's chief executive, Suzanne Scott, said pressure from conservatives online meant that she couldn't defend "these reporters who don't understand our viewers and how to handle stories."

These exchanges, some of which have been quoted by previous legal filings, have been captured by Dominion Voting Systems' legal team...
