If Jimmy Carter was re-elected, his energy independence plan (1977) would have been implemented and USA would be free from dependence on foreign oil/gas AND free from the menacing Russians, Saudis, Iranians, etc. who are using their petroleum profits to wreck havoc. Reagan conspired with Iranians & Soviet KGB to delay release of US hostages. Blood money ran through the basement of Reagan's WH w/Oliver North (Iran-Contra). There's much more to that! Then, as Now.
