That looks silly. OTOH....., I have to say --if you google some inappropriate formal wear......I've seen some pictures of teens wearing dresses that you might wear to the oscars if you were very bold (see through except in, let's say, three or, perhaps, four small places). Some of those dresses were so risque, I couldn't even link to them.

I went to umpteen years of Catholic School - and I honestly feel like they get to make the rules at their own prom. I know that this stuff usually comes down on girls, and that's a problem - but this is a Catholic and private school.

IMHO, the school should work with the kids and their parents to make the event fun - and come up with guidelines that make sense.

I get that this looks terrible from a pr standpoint. But, again, just my opinion, the real fail is one of communication and respect between the students, parents, and administration.
