4. The EU can negotiate, but this is in the eye of the beholder, so to speak

If you are selling oil, you can demand it be paid in whatever currency your heart desires. Tradition has oil sales done in dollars, but there is no ironclad rule anywhere that demands it. It helps us because it keeps demand for dollars on the world currency markets high, and there is a serious storm brewing in Italy with some of their major banks at the moment that is making holders of Euros understandably nervous right now. It could all change, of course.
