3. Ramp up the outrage via twitter and other social media

4. Direct additional traffic to both articles, generating more page clicks

5. Sell more advertising across all platforms

Fusion Media Group has been playing this game more and more frequently of late.

They own The Root, Deadspin, Jezebel, Splinter, all the former Gawker properties, and various others.

They generate revenue by creating these fake arguments.
