Lost In Space and Star Trek was what I was used to. Thought I was in the wrong theater when Dawn of Man came on. Baffled by the sudden jump to 2001. Confused when the intermission appeared, almost left the theater. Ending was incomprehensible. Saw it years later and thought...WOW! Great music, great visuals.

Nice summary by a teenage student Margaret Stackhouse. Kubrick himself thought it was the best analysis.
