my part) that more and more 'christians' will reject rump more and more, like they seem to be doing w/ this separating kids and parents at the borders. I think rump miscalculated here, and badly so.

This is a heart wrenching topic to deal w/ these illegal immigrants, who are simply trying to get to a better place. Instead of rejecting them out of hand, perhaps evaluate these people first on asylum (which I am sure is pretty valid in a lot of cases, fleeing violence in their old neighborhoods in an attempt to find a better home). Trump is now trying to not allow them this option even (asylum).

Then, after evaluating these immigrants, evaluate them based on other valid criteria, e.g., schooling and or other criteria (chief breadwinner of the family, etc.). There are large immigrant communities in this country already which could absorb a lot of these immigrants already.

Why can't we process these people like we did in the first 300 years of this country's immigration rules (we didn't have any really then, all were accepted), and be smart about it, e.g., place kids in schools, get parents jobs, teach English (or at least an understanding of it), and have people who will sponsor/be responsible for them and the like, and then have them repaid Uncle Sam back? There is a path forward for legal immigrants, simply roll the illegal immigrants into the 'legal' category only after they do certain things, to obtain legal citizenship.

I think w/ legal immigrants, this is done, via a friend of mine who immigrated from Bosnia, and they repaid back Uncle Sam (I'm not sure of what costs, but they repaid back Uncle Sam).
