Whoever the pick is he will be confirmed. That's the end of it, I'm afraid. The question Dems have to answer, is this: How would dragging this out through the fall help or hurt our chances of taking both the house and senate?

On one side, I could see it being a huge boost to turnout for Dems, particularly with younger women. On the flip side, if it's undecided by November, you'll have every fundy moonbat from Bugtussle to Bumblefuck crawling over 12 miles of broken glass to vote, potentially blunting any advantage Dems might have with enthusiasm or turnout.

There are a lot of calculations to be made here, and none of them are good.
